This marks The Pancake Parlour’s first international collaboration as all 11 outlets are Australian-based. According to 8days, Surrey Hills founder, Pang Gek Teng mentioned that it took a year to convince the pancake chain to collaborate with her. She managed to win them over with sincerity.

“Sincerity. I sent them photos and write-ups [recounting] my five years of memories of Pancake Parlour,” said Pang Gek Teng.

While living in Australia, Pang Gek Teng had become a regular customer at the famous pancake chain. When planning for the new Surrey Hills Grocer outlet, she immediately considered bringing in The Pancake Parlour. This resulted in Surrey Hills acquiring an exclusive licence to offer Pancake Parlour’s stacks at its Woodleigh outlet.

“If the pancakes sell well here, we’ll consider a partnership to open [actual] Pancake Parlour outlets in Singapore,” said Pang Gek Teng.

Surrey Hills dispatched 2 of its chefs to undergo a 2-week training program at The Pancake Parlour’s headquarters in Melbourne to master the art of creating the renowned signature pancakes. Furthermore, they will ensure a weekly delivery of their dry buttermilk pancake mix to Surrey Hills, enabling them to prepare these fluffy pancakes on-site.
