Soft-launched on 9 May 2023, the Woodleigh Mall was the perfect addition to the Bidadari Park Drive area which has recently become fully occupied by brand-new BTO flats.

Woodleigh Mall - front view

It’s hard to believe that less than a decade ago, the surrounding area was just bare forest. It was previously occupied by the now-defunct Bidadari Cemetery, a place which I frequently passed by during my daily commute to my secondary school.

Before the nearby Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre opens its doors to the public, follow me as I introduce you to the 12 best eating spots you should definitely check out at the Woodleigh Mall with your family and friends.

5. Meixi Yong Tau Foo (#B1-09/10)

Woodleigh Mall - meixi yong tau foo

When I’m clueless about what to eat, there’s nothing quite like the comforting embrace of a bowl of yong tau foo. I spotted Meixi Yong Tau Foo at the Woodleigh Mall’s Food Republic and I was elated. Why? Because I’m a regular customer of their 24-hour outlet located at 73 Toa Payoh Lorong 4.

All their products are handmade with quality fish paste. Besides the normal broth,  you’ll get to savour other exciting soup bases such as Laksa, Tom Yum or Mala if you spend an additional S$1.20.

For the Yong Tau Foo (Soup/Dry) at S$7, choose 7 pieces or get a minimum of 6 pieces with your choice of carbs (egg noodles, mee sua, thick bee hoon, Maggi noodles, rice, kway teow and more).

Sinful but delicious, some of the ingredients are deep fried separately and served on the side to prevent them from getting soggy. My favourites include the meatballs and the beancurd skin stuffed with French beans; absolutely yummy!

8. Bulgogi Syo (#01-33/34)

Woodleigh Mall - bulgogi syo

From the same group that brought you Seorae, Bulgogi Syo at the Woodleigh Mall provides a visual spectacle when you dine. The meats go through a 3-step hot stone grilling process from Korea.

Firstly, prime cuts of meat are seared to perfection on a scorching hot stone to preserve their innate flavours and juices. Next, they are torched with powerful fire blasters which can reach temperatures of up to 1,400 degrees Celsius, adding delicious char and smokiness to the exterior of the meat.

But the spectacle doesn’t end there. Prepare to be enthralled as your chosen cuts are set ablaze right before your eyes at the table.

The Pork Baby Back Ribs (S$26.90) boasts a 350g portion of succulent half-slab, braised for a remarkable 8 hours in a flavourful gochujang sauce.

For beef fans, the La Galbi (S$39.90) is a must-try. It features 300g of succulent USDA choice grade beef short ribs, expertly cut across the bones. Prepared with an overnight marinade, the result is meat that is astonishingly tender and has a sweet and savoury flavour that will linger on your palate.

Both options come with a bowl of flavourful seaweed rice.

The menu also has dishes like Jjajangmyeon (S$14.90), Seafood Sundubu Jjigae (S$18.90) and my personal recommendation, the Bacon Kongnamul Pancake (S$15.90). It has tasty bits of bacon combined with slightly-crunchy pieces of bean sprouts; a unique combination.

Woodleigh Mall - lam's noodle

Establishing themselves as one of the pioneers of Singapore’s F&B industry, Lam’s Noodle & Salt Baked Chicken at Food Republic specialises in crafting exquisite noodles and salt-baked chicken delights.

The chickens are marinated, hand-wrapped in parchment paper and left in the chiller overnight to ensnare every nuance of flavour. A layer of Australian coarse sea salt is then crusted over the chicken, which is then baked to lock in a symphony of tastes.
