Nasi Kandar is well-loved by Malaysians. With so many options of lauk to enjoy your rice with, the different combinations are endless. At Pumbaa’s in Damansara Jaya, you can now enjoy nasi kandar with pork! Yes, you heard me right.
The legendary man behind Kadei by Manchula has now opened a new stall located in Good Old Days Restaurant and is the first in KL to serve Ipoh-style nasi kandar and nasi lemak with pork. Open from 7.30am until 4pm every Tuesday to Sunday, this new eatery has gained popularity since its launch.
Let’s delve into Pumbaa’s menu. Here, you can indulge in a plate of nasi kandar featuring various curries in banjir style, vegetables, papadom, and a protein of your choice. Choose from Nasi Kandar Ayam (RM15), Nasi Kandar Kambing (RM18), Nasi Kandar Ikan (RM18), Nasi Kandar Udang (RM18), and Nasi Kandar Sotong (RM18).
Let’s not forget this eatery’s selection of nasi lemak as well. There’s the classic Nasi Lemak Biasa (RM6), Nasi Lemak Ayam (RM13), Nasi Lemak Kambing (RM18), Nasi Lemak Babi (pork) (RM16), Nasi Lemak Udang (RM18), and Nasi Lemak Sotong (RM18).
You can also add a variety of side dishes to your nasi kandar or nasi lemak. Opt for Pork Varuval or Rendang (RM12), Sambal Kerang (RM5), Ayam Goreng (RM6), Kambing Varuval or Korma (RM14). But wait, there’s more. Relish in Sambal Sotong (RM12), Prawn Curry (RM8), Mango Fish Curry (RM14), and Telur Ikan (RM8).
You’ll be happy to know that Pumbaa’s also serves a selection of appam. This South Indian delicacy is typically thin and crispy around the edges and has a soft, spongy centre. Opt for the Plain Appam, Egg Appam, Gula Melaka Appam, or Bacon and Egg Appam. All these appams are served with Pumbaa’s homemade coconut milk.
