Commonly touted as one of Singapore’s best bak chor mee stalls, Macpherson Minced Meat Noodles needs no introduction. I bring great news for their many fans — they’ve opened a new outlet in Tai Seng! What’s more, it’s helmed by none other than Uncle Yap, the stall’s original owner.

Macpherson Minced Meat Noodles’s newest outlet is situated in a coffeeshop at 82 Playfair Rd. It opened on 29 Apr 2024 with little fanfare; the business only took to their Facebook page to make an official announcement days later on 2 May.

Nonetheless, it didn’t take long for patrons to flock to the stall. “Finally, after 6 [months] of waiting,” read a comment accompanied by an image of the food. One also took to the Can Eat! SG Facebook group to share the happy news with other bak chor mee aficionados.

Amidst the hurrah, there were also several who rejoiced at seeing Uncle Yap back in action at the new stall. For context, he previously ran their Opal Crescent outlet, which has since shuttered due to renovation works on its coffeeshop. Although the business has 2 other outlets, I suppose many gravitate towards the original owner’s for its authenticity.

However, as stoked as many are about the new addition, there is a little bit of uncertainty surrounding the establishment’s 47 Tai Thong Crescent outlet. According to a Facebook post by user Jeremy See, the owner of the coffeeshop has unfortunately passed on, leaving the fate of the coffeeshop and its tenants in the air.

The stall in question is helmed by young disciples, and happens to be the establishment’s most popular. No joke, it garners perpetual snaking queues on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, we lack further information regarding the coffeeshop’s and the stall’s future. On the bright side, you can swing by the newly-opened Playfair Rd outlet to say ‘hi’ to Uncle Yap and, of course, enjoy a delicious bowl of their famed Minced Meat Noodle (S$5). Vinegary and flavourful, it isn’t to be missed.
