Party with Paradise Group’s multiple openings at Bedok Mall with exclusive 50% deals and vouchers

If you’ve popped by Bedok Mall’s basement, you might’ve noticed a trio of new restaurants near the central atrium. Paradise Group is finally returning to this well-loved suburban shopping mall with not one, but three restaurant openings

Paradise Classic, well known for their nostalgic local Chinese dishes, opened on 20 July 2022. Canton Paradise, which offers all-day dim sum and roast meats, and LeNu, a casual Chinese noodle bar known for its beef noodles, underwent renovations and reopened on 20 July 2022 and 13 July 2022 respectively.

To celebrate, all three restaurants will be holding some pretty exciting promotions in August 2022, such as 50% discounts and return vouchers worth more than S$45

We dropped by Bedok Mall to find out more, so read on!

1. Paradise Classic

We started off with the newest kid on the block— Paradise Classic.

This classy Chinese restaurant is known for offering well-loved local classics but with a modern twist. Bedok Mall is Paradise Classic’s latest outlet and it’s definitely an elegant one, sporting a brightly lit atmosphere with wooden accents for a comfortable yet elevated dining experience.

Before I go into the actual review of the food I tried that day, let me tell you about the opening promotions at Paradise Classic.

In celebration of their opening on 20 July 2022, diners can enjoy 50% off all four Prawn Broth Signature dishes from 1 to 7 August 2022:

  • Braised Prawn Broth Hor Fun with Big Prawn (S$13.90 for regular, S$20.90 for large)

Plus, dine at any of the three new restaurants from now till 31 August 2022 and receive a stack of six return vouchers upon billing, as long as you’re a Paradise Gourmet Rewards (PGR) member or pay using a Citibank or Maybank card.

Two of these return vouchers are for Paradise Classic: S$20 off food bill with minimum spend of S$60, and 30% off Prawn Broth Signature Mains.

Note that terms and conditions, such as being applicable only for dine-in at the Bedok Mall branch, apply. The full list of T&Cs are listed at the back of each voucher, so be sure to have a look!

Paradise Group - braised prawn horfun

I tried Paradise Classic’s signature Braised Prawn Broth Hor Fun with Big Prawn, and I’ve got to tell you, this was amazing.

I could smell the prawn broth right when it was served. The aroma was heady, briny and sweet, and reminded me of prawn noodles and how hawkers would usually boil the prawn heads for hours on end to achieve that rich and full-bodied taste.

Later, I learnt that the chefs at Paradise Classic use a homemade prawn broth (which takes six hours to make) to make the hor fun dish, resulting in silky strands of hor fun that’s accompanied by a gravy brimming with briny prawn flavours.

We also managed to try a handful of other classic Chinese dishes, including the Hot Plate Tofu with Preserved Cai Xin and Minced Pork (S$15.90), Steamed Minced Pork with Salted Fish (S$12.90) and Poached Chinese Spinach with Egg Trio in Superior Stock (S$16.30).

Out of the three, my absolute favourite was the Hot Plate Tofu with Preserved Cai Xin and Minced Pork. I’m dead serious when I say I fell asleep that night thinking of this dish.

While the outside crust was nice and crispy, the tofu on the inside was flawlessly soft, piping hot and super silky. The gravy, which came with crunchy and savoury bits of preserved vegetables, was salty and filled with umami notes. I can just imagine having the hot plate tofu with a plate of white rice, and frankly, I’d be the happiest girl on Earth.

2. Canton Paradise

Right next door to Paradise Classic is Canton Paradise, a chic Cantonese restaurant offering Hong Kong classics, such as roast meat and dim sum.

It underwent renovation and can now fit more people— 122 guests to be precise! Its interior is vibrant and chic, featuring hues of gold and purple. A key element is the show kitchen lining the back of the restaurant, where diners can take a peek at the chefs in action.

If you recall, dining in at any of these three restaurants from now till 31 August 2022 will entitle you to a stack of six return vouchers upon billing as long as you’re a PGR member or pay using a Citibank or Maybank card.

Two of these returning vouchers are for Canton Paradise: S$15 off food bill with minimum spend of S$60, and a plate of Crispy Roasted Duck for S$12 (U.P. S$19.30).

As always, T&Cs apply. Refer to the back of each voucher for more details.

The star of the show at Canton Paradise is the BBQ Combination (2 varieties) (S$24.80). I got to enjoy both meats— Crispy Roasted Duck and Charred BBQ Pork with Honey Sauce— with a side of sour plum sauce.

Paradise Group - charsiew

I loved the Charred BBQ Pork with Honey Sauce because it had a good amount of fat that added a satisfying crunch to each bite. It paired well with the springy meat and sticky sweet honey coating, which had a touch of smokiness from being torched.

The other Hong Kong classics I tried were the Signature Canton Jumbo Prawn Wanton Noodle (Dry) (S$11.30), Braised Tofu with Shrimp Paste and Pork Belly in Claypot (S$17.80) and Baked Mini Egg Tart (S$5.30 for 3 pieces).

The wanton noodles were a classic staple and I enjoyed them for its slurp-worthy silkiness, which went well with the alkaline, soy-like sauce and springy jumbo prawn wantons. Finishing the meal with a bite of the Baked Mini Egg Tart was a real treat, as the crust was super flaky and buttery. Not to mention, it came in just the right size, as it was small enough to wolf down in a single bite!

3. LeNu

Paradise Group - LeNu storefront

LeNu, which is directly translated to “happy cow”, is such an iconic symbol of Taiwanese culture. It’s best known for its lip-smacking braised beef noodles, as well as a variety of other Taiwanese street food like wantons in chilli vinaigrette.

It used to be where Paradise Classic was, but has since been shifted to another space just a stone’s throw away. Its new location sports a bright and open interior with an increased capacity of 48 guests.

If you’ve guessed it, the remaining two return vouchers in that stack of six are for LeNu: S$10 off food bill with minimum spend of S$30, and a plate of Pork Wanton in Chilli Vinaigrette (5pcs) for S$4.80 (U.P. S$7.30).

Just to recap: PGR members or those with a Citibank or Maybank card are eligible to receive these return vouchers! Simply dine at any of these three restaurants from now till 31 August 2022 to receive them upon billing.

Each voucher comes with its own terms and conditions, such as being only applicable for use at the Bedok Mall outlets, so do check each voucher for more details.

Paradise Group - LeNu beef noodles

Whenever I come to LeNu, I always order one thing: Braised Beef Combination Noodle (S$16.90), as it uses beef broth that has been prepared for 18 hours.

The braised beef broth is immensely flavourful, and I can tell straight away from its intoxicating smell when it was served. Sipping on it was really satisfying and comforting, as this is braised beef broth in all its glory— full-bodied, savoury and rich, but with a light texture that doesn’t make it jelak at all. I can also taste bits of picked vegetables, which add a delightful and well-needed piquant brightness to the whole bowl.

Paradise Group - food at LeNu

To round off the foodie adventure, I tried LeNu’s Pork Wanton in Chilli Vinaigrette (S$7.30 for 5 pieces), Chef Wai’s Dry Noodle with Anchovies (S$8.90) and Crispy Beancurd Skin stuffed with Fish Paste (S$3.60 for 2 pieces).

If I could pick one dish to eat for the rest of my life, it’d be the Pork Wanton in Chilli Vinaigrette. Juicy, plump pieces of hand-pleated wanton were filled with springy minced pork and doused in a spicy, sour and tangy vinaigrette, making for such an absolute delight.

Even though I was utterly stuffed at this point, I just had to sneak in two or three of these super shiok and addictive wantons

Paradise Group - food at Paradise Classic, Canton Paradise and LeNu

Trust me when I say that this was a real feast.
