For those in the West who feel slightly annoyed whenever friends in the East says “East side, best side”… you’re not alone! With the opening of Hawker’s Street at Bukit Panjang Plaza on 3 Aug 2024, you now have more food options to flex to your tribe.
Located on level 2, this spanking-new food court has a seating capacity of 238, with 11 stalls to choose from. 4 of these stalls are in the midst of attaining their Halal-certification, which are: Pondok Indah Indonesian Nasi Padang, Waker Chicken, Thai Makan by Thai Dynasty and Kaki Makan.
Cult favourite Pondok Indah Indonesian Nasi Padang has just opened another branch here. This beloved spot, which closed all its outlets in 2019, has recently made a comeback, reopening in an industrial building in Tai Seng.
Fill your plates of White Rice (S$0.60) with Beef Rendang (S$4.50), Paru (S$3), Bergedil (S$1.50), Assam Fish (S$5) and more.
The beef rendang was super tender while the sambal… let me just say, is not for the faint-hearted. It packed an extremely spicy kick but it was aromatic and tasty— worth sweating buckets for!
With several other outlets of Waker Chicken around Singapore, what makes Hawker Street’s branch stand out? Well, for starters, this is the only outlet that offers pasta in addition to its range of Korean Fried Chicken.
Take your pick between 4 varieties of pasta including Chicken Cutlet Pasta with Cream Sauce (S$7.90) and Seafood Pasta with Tomato Sauce (S$9.90). We tried the 3 Pcs Chicken Pasta and selected Kimchi Sauce (S$9.50). The chicken was crispy and juicy but the true standout was the pasta, perfectly balancing tanginess and savouriness, complemented by bits of fermented cabbage.
Flourful Delight has an assortment of Chinese regional delights such as Dan Dan Noodles (S$5.50), Zha Jiang Noodles (S$5.90), Sichuan Wanton Soup (S$6.90) and Braised Beef Noodles (S$8.90).
We really enjoyed our basket of Xiao Long Bao (S$6.90 for 6 pieces),which was wonderfully juicy and soft while the outer skin wasn’t thick.
And of course, who doesn’t know Michelin Bib Tai Wah Pork Noodle? You can slurp a bowl of piping-hot Dumpling Soup (S$5.90/S$7.90/S$9.90) or like us, enjoy the Signature Tai Wah Pork Noodle (S$9.90).
Choose between mee pok or mee kia, the bowl of noods comes with liver pieces, minced pork, pork lard and fried sole fish. It also comes with a bowl of soup containing 5 meatballs, 3 dumplings and seaweed.
You can also check out Thai Makan by Thai Dynasty for their bowls of Green Curry Chicken (S$6.90) and Basil Chicken with Rice & Egg (S$7.90). Or fill your tummies at Roast Paradise with plates of Roast Pork Rice (S$5.50) and Soy Sauce Chicken Noodle (S$5.50).
