1. Golden Village VivoCity
Opened in 2006, Golden Village VivoCity is the largest cinema complex in the country. It houses a variety of theatres. One of these is GVmax, a stadium-style auditorium with 602 seats and one of the widest screens in Asia. It is the first cinema in Southeast Asia to have the 64.2 channel Dolby Atmos sound system.
The cinema in Singapore features Gold Class suites. These are premium cinema theatres fitted with leather recliner chairs, a private lounge and a curated menu of meals and wines.
The GEMINI seats at Golden Village VivoCity are the perfect choice for couples. With a liftable armrest, spacious seating and additional legroom, they offer comfort and privacy.

2. Golden Village Suntec City
Golden Village’s flagship is at Suntec City with 11 screens, including 3 Gold Class screens. It took over the space occupied by WE Cinemas and The Rock Auditorium.
Its Gold Class suites have plush, reclining seats, footrests and embroidered wool blankets. They also come with digital sound systems and a spectrum of food and beverage options.
What sets Golden Village Suntec City apart from other cinemas in Singapore is that it has an event space suitable for conferences, award ceremonies, and private movie screenings.

3. Shaw Theatres Lido
Shaw Theatres Lido is known for having Singapore’s first IMAX Digital Theatre System.
IMAX is a theatre system that uses large screens, special cameras, and sound systems to create an immersive experience. Since its introduction in 2011, the theatre’s IMAX has been equipped with a next-generation laser projection and a 12-channel sound system.
The Shaw Theatres Lido has a “lifestyle” design concept, with clean lines and rich wood elements. The Lido Lobby features floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a splendid view of Orchard Road, a film mural and a S$1 million 8.2m x 2.7m Panasonic Super Video Screen.
With a total seating capacity of 1,960, all 11 cinema halls have stadium seating, a tiered arrangement of seats in a stadium where each row is slightly higher than the one in front.

4. Shaw Theatres Jewel
When it opened in 2019, Shaw Theatres Jewel had several new offerings for movie-goers. These included Singapore’s first next-generation IMAX hall featuring IMAX with Laser, Singapore’s first dedicated family hall (Dreamers), Singapore’s first DTS:X sound-compatible halls (chosen halls) and a new exclusive premium movie-going hall (Lumiere).
Shaw Theatre Dreamers is a cinema designed for families. It features bean bags, ball pits and toys to keep little ones entertained. Meanwhile, Lumiere provides an exclusive movie-watching experience with a focus on comfort from the luxurious, reclinable seats.
Shaw Theatres Jewel has something for everyone with its 11 screens. These are an IMAX screen, 2 Lumiere theatres, a family-friendly Dreamers screen and also 7 normal screens.
A Monday evening ticket for Captain America: Brave New World is priced at S$23 in a Lumiere hall and S$40 for 2 adults and 1 accompanying toddler in a Dreamers hall.

Cathay at Century Square is the first cinema in the East to have a Dolby Atmos hall that offers crisp audio quality. It also houses the first cinema in the country with plush wave seats. These are full-length loungers for 2 people, situated at the front of the hall and reclined at an ideal angle for enhanced viewing.
Its 6 halls feature a retro theme with neon art signs, creating a nostalgic and enjoyable atmosphere. Every hall comes with Assisted Listening Device Systems for deaf patrons.
Besides public screenings, the venue can accommodate various functions. These include corporate meetings, award ceremonies, private screenings, as well as religious services.
7. The Projector at Golden Mile Tower
If you are looking for a different movie-watching experience than the typical commercial cinema, The Projector at Golden Mile Tower is the best cinema in Singapore for you.
It stands out as an independent cinema showcasing a pick of indie and foreign films. Past films aired there include the coming-of-age melodrama Rebel Without a Cause (1955), the science fiction horror movie The Thing (1982) and the comedy-drama Age of Panic (2013).
The Projector occupies a space within the Golden Mile Tower, a building with significant history. It offers a unique vintage aesthetic vis-a-vis mainstream cinema multiplexes. It also provides a space for alternative cultural events and discussions within the community.

8. Eagle Wings Cinematics
Eagle Wings Cinematics is considered special because it’s the only independent cinema chain in Singapore. It offers a boutique, cosy movie experience with unique colour themes across its 5 different halls. It also has premium lounges for guests with “Eagle Gold” and “Eagle Platinum” tickets, where they can enjoy drinks and refreshments before their movie.
Premium guests can place extra orders for food and drinks to be served during the film. Their must-get appetisers are Calamari Rings (S$8.90) and Golden Wings (S$9.90).
It has a capacity of 135 seats – a Platinum Hall with 18 seats, 2 Gold Halls with 12 seats each, a Silver Hall with 30 seats and a Classic Hall with 63 seats. Their armchairs were carefully selected with every occasion in mind, from a couple’s date to a family gathering.

9. iWERKS Theatre
iWERKS Theatre is Singapore’s largest flat-screen theatre featuring 2D and 3D giant-screen movies. Equipped with a 5-storey high screen and an excellent sound system, this 344-seat theatre invites you to a cinematic and realistic sensory experience like no other.

10. Carnival Cinemas
Carnival Cinemas, part of India’s largest multiplex franchise, is known for screening Indian and regional movies. It offers a cinematic experience at very affordable prices, focusing on South Asian cinema, especially Bollywood. In addition to movies, the cinema also offers private screenings, hall rentals, and bulk bookings, making it a versatile venue.
In 2023, the best cinema in Singapore installed a new silver screen in its theatre, equipped with state-of-the-art technology that gives stunning picture quality and crystal-clear sound.
They have a special offer for ladies every Wednesday, offering S$8 tickets for walk-ins. Otherwise, a Friday evening ticket for the action-comedy film Robinhood costs S$16.
11. Films at the Fort
If you prefer an outdoor theatre to the comfort of an indoor cinema in Singapore, your best option is Films at the Fort. It is an annual film screening event held at the Fort Canning Green, a historic landmark overlooking the city skyline. The open-air event has good food, good drinks, good music, a unique outdoor experience and most importantly, good movies.
The 2024 event from 1 to 18 Aug aired popular films including the American romantic sports drama film Challengers, the biographical drama musical film Bob Marley: One Love and the action comedy film The Fall Guy. Tickets went on sale for $42.80/pax. Every ticket included a zesty Glenfiddich cocktail (or 2 non-alcoholic drinks if you don’t drink).
