What happens when a guy like me, who does not usually enjoy horror, visits this year’s Halloween Horror Nights? Turns out, I had quite a bit of fun.

Without spoiling too much, here is what you can expect if you choose to venture into the dark corners of Universal Studios Singapore (USS) for Halloween Horror Nights 13.

Netflix’s Stranger Things makes a return

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 - Stranger Things

First featured in 2018’s Halloween Horror Nights, the hit Netflix series is making a comeback at this year’s event. This is perfect for fans who can’t wait for the final season of Stranger Things to drop in November and want to immerse themselves in the world of the Upside Down.

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 - Upside Down

You will walk through iconic scenes from the first 4 seasons of the show and encounter some familiar creatures. Brace yourself for a few scares here too!

This was one of my top experiences of the night as the set designs were done incredibly well, and really make you feel like you’ve been transported into the world of Stranger Things.

4 Haunted Houses

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 - Build to Horror

But Stranger Things is only one of the 4 haunted houses at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights. If you dare, explore the others, including 2 that are based on well-known horror IPs — “The Unruly Immortals” and “Death Whisperer”. The former is a hit online Chinese novel with over 11 million online subscribers on the Yuewen platform, while the latter is a series of Thai horror films.

There is also a uniquely Singaporean haunted house named Build to Horror. Yes, this ain’t your Build to Order (BTO), but Build to Horror. Inside, you will face terrors in eerily familiar environments with a dark twist. You will also be equipped with a UV torchlight, which reveals messages on walls. Very useful for shining light around corners too, if you know what I mean.

Non-linear Scare Zones

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 - The Realm of Yokai

If you’re done greeting the evil residents at the haunted houses, consider taking a slow walk through the scare zones. These are different from the haunted houses as you have a little bit more freedom and space to explore.

We had the chance to explore The Realm of Yokai, which is a Japanese-themed zone set in a creepy forest. In this area, you get to live out your dreams of becoming a Demon Slayer. Just kidding — please do not touch the scare actors, or you’ll be the demon that will be hunted down.

Live shows and special experiences

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 - Blumhouse Bar

Looking for someplace to chill after all the scares? There is a themed Blumhouse Bar you can visit for specialty cocktails and photo ops featuring the production house’s famous film characters. Watch horror icons like M3GAN jump off the screen into our reality and say hi to them!

Blumhouse: Fear Lives Here also brings an impressive projection mapping spectacle to the castle at USS, where you can watch a live show with a cinematic score.

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 - Once Upon a Time to Die

Talking about live shows, my favourite experience of the night has to be Once Upon a Time… to Die. I was genuinely surprised and entertained by this electrifying stage performance that features moving set pieces, musical numbers and interactions with the audience.

The main character of this performance is not a giant Labubu, but Mr. Rabid, who will take you into a twisted wonderland featuring dark takes on classic fairytales.

Halloween Horror Nights 13 will be happening on select nights from 26 Sep – 1 Nov. Off-peak tickets are S$68 while peak tickets will cost S$78. If you would like a guided tour with express privileges and retail discounts, you can also go for the R.I.P. Tour package for S$260. Being able to get past the lines is a huge W because, as we all know, nothing is scarier than long queues in the humid Singapore weather.

Lastly, there will be free midnight shuttle buses at 12.30am from Resorts World Sentosa to 14 Haidilao outlets across Singapore. Great for getting a ride home or for having that midnight supper! For the exact bus routes, check out Haidilao’s Instagram.
