Johor Bahru has even more new spots to explore this month, spanning food, cafes, entertainment and stays. Add these 6 new openings to your JB itinerary this October, from seaside Thai boat noodles to a retro-inspired hotel.

1. Siam Bowl

Siam Bowl brings Thai boat noodles to the seaside at Forest City, with an open-air setup where you can eat on camping chairs and mats while enjoying the coastal breeze.

Boat noodles start from just RM2.50, with Rangsit Chicken, Sour Spicy Chicken and Tomyam Prawn options. Other bites include Thai Papaya Salad (RM9.90), Kangkung Tempura (RM9.90) and Mango Sticky Rice (RM11.90), plus Thai milk tea and green tea. The outlet uses no pork and no lard and is currently in its soft-opening phase.

2. Chef K Pastry

Malacca bakery Chef K Pastry has opened its first out-of-state outlet at Austin Crest, bringing whole new cakes, fresh bakes and unconventional flavour combinations to JB this October.

Look out for crowd favourites such as the Traditional Cake 6-in-1 Flavour Box, Danish Layer Toast and Dodol Coconut Shiopan. The outlet held its grand opening in September after 2 months of soft opening, making it a new addition to the Austin area.

3. Warung Bunda Johor

The spread includes familiar favourites such as Lontong Kering (RM13), Nasi Lemak (RM12) and assorted kuih-muih, making it an easy option for a casual, homestyle meal.

4. GT Social Cafe

Game night gets an upgrade at GT Social Cafe, Johor Bahru’s first professional F1 racing simulator and gaming cafe in Eco Botanic, Iskandar Puteri.

Challenge friends on the professional racing simulator at RM40/hour, or try the PS5 simulator at RM20/hour, with student discounts available. Food includes Chicken Katsu Rice (RM19.90), Curry Katsu Udon (RM18.90) and Midnight Curry Katsu Don (RM22.90), alongside gyoza, takoyaki and karaage. The cafe has no pork, no lard and no alcohol, and opens until 2am daily.

5. Labu+Labu

Labu+Labu Bakery has landed opposite KSL City Mall, bringing its signature Chicken Flossie Balls to a second outlet in JB. Prices start from RM11 for 4 pieces, with Spicy Seaweed and Vegetarian versions available too.
