Ipoh residents may soon have fewer reasons to make a beeline for KL when the shopping mood strikes. Sunway Ipoh Mall is set to open in Q4 2027, bringing a mix of international retailers, dining spots and entertainment facilities to Sunway City Ipoh, including a few firsts for Perak.

The RM1 billion development will span 1.2 million sq ft across 4 retail floors, with around 400 shops planned. Leasing is already well underway, with 80% of its retail space secured and 25 brands confirmed. Nine of these will be making their Perak debut, adding some fresh names to the state’s shopping scene.

Among the retailers setting up shop are MUJI, UNIQLO, Decathlon, JD Sports, Harvey Norman, LC Waikiki, Padini and Popular. UNIQLO is set to open its largest store in Perak here, while Brands Outlet, HOOGA and MAP Active are also on the list. Beauty shoppers can look forward to offerings from Estée Lauder Companies and L’Oréal Group.
The 7 anchor tenants include Parkson Elite, Village Grocer, TGV Cinemas, MR D.I.Y. Plus, Sunway Ice Rink, Sunway Ipoh Exhibition Centre and Sunway Megalanes. Six are expected to make their Perak debut, giving shoppers more options without having to venture out of state.

There is plenty planned beyond the usual retail therapy, too. The mall will house Perak’s first ice-skating rink, alongside a 36-lane bowling centre, multipurpose sports facilities and a 10-hall cinema with around 1,500 seats. Its Gourmet Garden will offer indoor and outdoor dining, making room for everything from casual meals to longer catch-ups over the weekend.
The mall will sit within the Sunway City Ipoh township, alongside attractions and facilities such as Lost World of Tambun, Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh and The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat. Drivers can also look forward to over 2.9K parking bays, including 100 equipped with electric vehicle charging facilities.
Between the new retail names and leisure attractions, there should be plenty to keep Ipoh residents occupied when Sunway Ipoh Mall opens in late 2027. For now, the wait is still on.
