I’m sure we’re all familiar with that crazy viral TikTok recipe that involves a baking dish, feta, and tomatoes, drizzled with plenty of olive oil—you know that one? I love the idea, but what if we created a dessert version of it. Step aside Baked Feta Pasta, it’s time for Baked Feta with Honeyed Strawberries to shine. This recipe is so simple, you can even call on your kids to help you out, and it’s got some salt and pepper to keep things interesting and savoury.
Literally using only five ingredients—or four, if you don’t count seasoning as an ingredient—this recipe will work great as a topping for ice cream, as a bread spread, or eaten on its own. Let’s make this TikTok recipe twist the new viral sensation!
Preparation time: 5 minutes; Cooking time: 1 hour
Step 1: Pre-heat your oven to 180°C. While the oven is warming up, remove the green tops from the strawberries and slice them in half.
Step 2: Add the strawberries to your baking dish/casserole and drizzle 3 tbsp honey and olive oil on top, along with a pinch of salt and ample pepper. Gently toss everything together to ensure an even coat, and spread the strawberries out to form a single layer in the dish.
Step 3: Roast for 25 minutes.
Step 4: Remove the baking dish/casserole from the oven and make some room in the middle for the block of feta cheese. Drizzle 1 tbsp olive oil on top, and return the entire dish to the oven.
Step 5: Bake for another 25 to 30 minutes, until the juices start to thicken and the feta begins to brown. Remove the oven and let it cool down before serving.
The final tray isn’t as pretty to look at as one would imagine, but pick up a spoon and quickly grab a bowl to enjoy this delightful recipe ASAP. The savouriness of the cheese really added oomph to the sweet strawberries. If you’re wondering if the salt and pepper made a difference, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover that it certainly put in the work of transforming the strawberries to a great contender as a condiment to roast chicken or turkey.
Instead of gravy, try this out instead; I don’t think you’ll look back.
Expected damage: S$6- S$8 per dish
