Tanah Merah overlaps with some of Singapore’s most exciting foodie hotspots, including Bedok and Changi Coastal. From chill-out seaside restaurants to the ever-popular East Village district, the area is a smorgasbord of local, international and fusion fare worth the trip, no matter where in Singapore you live.

1. Offshore Bar & Grill
No, we did not intentionally begin our list with the place with the most scenic views— while Offshore Bar & Grill did impress us with excellent ambience, it was their fresh catch, literally endless flow of such a diverse range of food and drink, friendly staff and the incredible BBQ experience that won us over.
You are in charge of the grill at this kelong-style seaside dining paradise. Just order the package that you want and get right to hearing the tantalising sizzle up close and personal. Better still, breathe in the heavenly aroma of fresh marine produce cooking away on your personal charcoal BBQ station.
The start-off point is Offshore Bar & Grill’s Happy Feast (S$69++/person). It comes with a whole seabass, seasonal seafood, freshly cooked buffet selection and a selection of sauces. You can also help yourself to anything and everything in the large walk-in-style fridges!
Besides the basics such as various cuts of pork, chicken and beef as well as sausages, skewers and satay, we helped ourselves to enoki bacon, yakitori beef skewers, mala pork and mala clam.
For seafood, there is prawn, crab, stingray, squid, octopus and cheesy scallop. Several types of mushrooms (including the lovely king oyster mushroom), bell peppers and veggies will placate the omnivores among us. Mind you, the cheese tofu was universally adored at our table.
In the mood to indulge? Add on the Super Happy Feast (S$59++/table), which is 1 whole lobster and 1 mud crab, along with a selection of live seafood. Seafood lovers, rejoice!
Drinks are included and I drank waaay too many soft drinks. Party away with the Really Super Freeflow (S$59++/person) add-on to chug as much alcohol as you please. That includes house reds and whites, gin, vodka, rum, tequila and whiskey. Pace yourself with Carlsberg, Connors, and Kronenbourg Blanc beer or savour cocktails such as a Margarita, Cuba Libre, Cosmopolitan and Long Island Iced Tea.
If you are superhuman and have room for dessert after all this, mini cakes and at least 8 different flavours of ice-cream await, complete with toppings and sauces. We visited on an overcast day so, as the sun set and a chill set in, we roasted marshmallows over our glowing pit— it reminded me of my uni days and was the perfect end to our visit.
For anyone who believes seafood is best enjoyed within sight of blue waves and the smell of salt in the air, this is an easy number one for Tanah Merah!

2. Creamed
Back in 2017, Creamed was a home-based business selling oven-baked honey chicken rice and signature desserts like Nutella tiramisu dessert (Tubtella).
They’ve done a menu revamp after transitioning into a physical takeaway shop at East Village in 2020. For mac and cheese fans, Creamed offers a variety of unique renditions for you to indulge in— perfect for your next gathering!
Tuck into their Pulled Beef Mac & Cheese (S$10 for small, S$18 for large), Beef Bacon Chicken Sausage Mac & Cheese (S$8.50 for small, S$14 for large), Cajun Prawn Mac & Cheese (S$18), and Chicken Cutlet Mac & Cheese (S$7.80 for small, S$12 for large).
Creamed also has Mac Lasagne (S$10 for small, S$18 for large), which replaces the traditional lasagne sheets with macaroni.
If you’re looking for other options, they also offer Chilli Cheese Fries (S$8.50 for small, S$15 for large), Chicken Cutlet Aglio Olio (S$10.50), and TubFerrero (Ferrero Rocher gelato inside a tub) (S$15).

3. The Forage Cafe
Nestled in a quiet neighbourhood along Jalan Pari Burong, The Forage Cafe is a honey-themed cafe by 13 HONEY which opened its doors in September 2019. They are focused on sharing the benefits of this superfood with its customers through its honey-infused dishes.
The homegrown honey brand takes pride in harvesting and making quality honey products that are made in Singapore, 100% natural and Halal-certified.
The Forage Café’s signature buttermilk waffles offer five options such as the Turkey Ham and Cheese (S$19++), Jalapeno Beef Ragu (S$19++), and Chilli Cheese Chicken (S$19++), which is the most popular with a breaded juicy chicken thigh drizzled with a
spicy nacho cheese sauce.
Instead of maple syrup, they are served with a miniature bottle of multi-floral honey. It’s a honey blend that is gathered from the nectar of different tropical flowers, complementing the waffles with a strong aromatic floral taste.
They are also popular for their Fish & Chips (S$20++), Spicy Carbonara (S$16++), and sides which have a dose of honey added like their Crispy Soft Shell Crab (S$14++). Remember to end your meal with their honey-infused tarts.

4. Stella Seaside Lounge
Stella Seaside Lounge is located at Changi Coast Walk, a stone’s throw away from Tanah Merah Beach. It has Bali-esque vibes with unobstructed views of the stunning sea, swaying coconut trees, dim light bulbs streamed atop the outdoor tables, and above all, the undeniably mouth-watering smell of grilled meats.
Indulge in a cocktail or two while admiring the sea. Try their Sunset Daiquiri (S$21), which is Stella Seaside Lounge’s innovative spin on the daiquiri, with the addition of Thai honey mango, fresh strawberries, mango puree and strawberry syrup.
For their mains, order the Seafood Linguine (S$20), which is a cheesy pasta served with prawns, clams, squid and garlic toast. For beef lovers, the Birria Beef Tacos (S$22) is highly recommended. It consists of pan-fried corn tortillas filled with slow-cooked beef shortribs, smothered with tasty mole and shredded cheese. This dish is served with a rich beef consomme at the side.
To finish off your meal with a sweet ending, their desserts like Lemon Meringue Tart (S$12), Banana Pudding (S$12), and Stella Chocolate Molten (S$12) will do just the trick.

5. Time For Thai
Craving for Thai cuisine? Head over to Time For Thai, located at Simpang Bedok. They believe in delivering authentic and quality food that’s cooked by native Thai chefs of head chef calibre.
Time For Thai keeps prices affordable, and there’s no GST or service charge over here. They’re also Halal-certified. Some of the highly recommended dishes include Glass Noodles Claypot With Prawns (S$30.90), Steamed Sea Bass With Spicy Lemon Sauce (S$25.90), Cockles With Thai Chilli Sauce (S$13.90), and Beef Noodles Soup With Tendons (S$10.90).
If you’re obsessed with Thai boat noodles, they have about 12 varieties for you to choose from at only S$1 each— trust me, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

6. Sky Bistro
Located on the 5th storey of the National Service Resort & Country Club’s driving range, Sky Bistro is a rooftop dining spot offering unobstructed views of the scenic greenery of the surrounding golf course, and beautiful sunsets with its full-length glass windows. They also have an alfresco area where you can sit and enjoy the planes flying by.
At night, this place transforms into a wonderland with fairy lights hung all over the ceiling. Kick back with some wine, beer or interesting cocktails like Laksa Margarita (S$17.80 per glass), which is a combination of Don Julio tequila, lime, laksa leaf, chilli padi, and coconut milk— what an exotic concoction!
Sky Bistro also has an extensive menu ranging from starters like Calamari Fritti (S$9.90) and Pork Satay 10’s (S$15.90), to pizzas like Pizza Salsiccia (S$17.90). They also have Western and Asian offerings like Hainanese Pork Chop (S$14.90), Tahu Goreng Istimewa (S$10.90), Vongole Linguine (S$18.90), and their signature Chicken Chop (S$14.90).

7. Nyonya Taste by Brew & Bar
Located along Jalan Pari Burong, Nyonya Taste by Brew & Bar is a hipster Peranakan restaurant which started in 2017. It serves authentic Peranakan food with recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. The availability of beer and wine that’s meant to be paired along with traditional Peranakan food exudes a more modern bar vibe which will appeal to the young crowd.
Nyonya Taste by Brew & Bar’s vision is to create love and bonding through Peranakan food, where families and friends can gather together for a meal. For starters, the menu has options like Otak Otak (S$10), Ngoh Hiang (S$16), Hei Zho (S$16), and Inchi Kabin (S$16) (which features their special marinated fried mid-joint wings).

8. Momoya Japanese Restaurant
Momoya Japanese Restaurant is situated along Jalan Pari Burong and has been around since December 2008. Due to the shortage of manpower, they have ceased serving à la carte buffet from their menu, and are now serving Teishoku – Japanese set meals as well as à la carte dishes.
For those who love Japanese curry, Momoya Japanese Restaurant offers 11 varieties of curry rice sets, which include a salad, miso soup, and a drink together with your main curry dish. Order their Gyu Niku Curry Omurice (S$19.50), which comes with slices of beef with an omelette encapsulating the rice within, accompanied by a generous curry gravy drenched all around it.
If you think variety is the spice of life, indulge in the Momoya Gozen (S$45), which is worth the price. It consists of an appetiser, salmon sashimi, ebiko chawanmushi, oyster in ponzu sauce, grilled eel, prawn tempura, California maki, pickles, miso soup, and ice-cream— what a magnificent feast!

9. The Naughty Chef
The Naughty Chef has been at The Bedok Marketplace since 2017, and they’ve expanded to two more outlets at One Shenton and Tanjong Katong.
This is an Italian-inspired cafe which specialises in good quality Italian fare and believes that food does not need to be expensive for everyone to enjoy. Their diverse menu has everything from risotto to pasta to burgers, and way more.
If you love pizza, get ready to be spoilt for choice over at The Naughty Chef— they’ve a total of 24 varieties. You’ll have a pick of either the freshly hand-stretched crust or the calzone (folded pizza)..
Their signature flavours include Sausage & Rapini Pizza (S$17 for 10 inches, S$22 for 12 inches), Porchetta (S$14 for 10 inches, S$19 for 12 inches), and Italian Meatball (S$13 for 10 inches, S$18 for 12 inches).
The Naughty Chef is also well known for their steaks like their 500g Mini Florentine (Porterhouse) (S$49), which comes with a choice of pasta or starter.

10. Rays Beach House
Located at Changi Coast Walk within walking distance from Tanah Merah Beach, Rays Beach House opened amid the Covid19 pandemic on 1 March 2021. It’s a casual dining style restaurant with a zi char kitchen as well as an innovative western kitchen.
You’ll be welcomed by their friendly staff who are decked out in colourful tropical shirts, together with the relaxing view of the seaside. To maintain their quality and uniqueness, all their dishes are made from scratch including the bread and sauces. Ray’s Beach House also has a full bar that offers different kinds of beer, wine, soju, Asian-inspired cocktails as well as housemade non-alcoholic beverages like the RBH Milkshake (S$10).
They’ve just launched their new dishes on the menu. Expect unique items such as The Chashu Baoger (S$18), Truffle Mac & Cheese with Garlic Bread (S$18), French Fries with Hae Bee Butter (S$9), and Housebaked Carrot Cake (S$8).

11. Supper Deck
Supper deck is a Halal-certified casual restaurant within Simpang Bedok, serving Asian and Western food in a chill and laid-back setting. If you’re looking for a supper place, they are open most days till late. Expect to feast on an array of delectable local delights and international favourites.
Their mouth-watering offerings include The Eggstra (S$11.90), a stack featuring a tender grilled beef patty, topped with a runny sunny side up and turkey bacon. This humble stack stands out because of its sweet onion jam and spicy mayo.
All the Burgers sold at Supper Deck come with a serving of fries which you can choose to upgrade to Nacho Cheese Fries for an additional S$1, Beef Chilli Fries for an additional S$2.50, and Onion Rings for S$2.
If you prefer Asian dishes, they have seven different varieties of nasi goreng. Choose between Nasi Goreng Black Pepper Chicken (S$10.50), Nasi Goreng Seafood Deluxe (S$11.90), and Nasi Goreng Salted Eggstravaganza (S$10.90), which has a chicken cutlet drenched in spicy salted egg sauce.

12. Badoque Cafe
Located at Simpang Bedok, Badoque is a 100% Muslim-owned cafe established in 2008. The decor over here is simple and fuss-free, and there’s no service charge. There’s also an al fresco dining area where you can chill with your mates over good food and drinks. Their menu features a range of Mediterranean dishes, Nusantara Fusion creations, pasta, western fare, and much more.
The portions over here are huge and hearty. I’d recommend bringing your family and friends to indulge in the variety of their spread. For big groups, you can order the Bone In Ribeye (S$95), which is a massive 1.2kg cut of ribeye with the bone still intact that’s been aged for 120 days— it’s guaranteed to satisfy meat-lovers.
You may also have a go at their other signature dishes such as Ayam Bakar Betawi (S$18), Wagyu Burger (S$24), Shabsouka (S$18), and Lamb Bukhari (S$28).
