Blue Jasmine at Farrer Park Hotel serves up authentic Thai flavours within a contemporary setting in the heart of Farrer Park.
Look out for its iftar (break-fast) buffet available only during the Ramadan period. There’s a Seafood Night buffet from 13 – 19 May 2019 and a Grill & Roast Night buffet from 20 – 26 May 2019. So have a wholesome dinner here with your family and friends!
Spacious and tastefully designed to create a casual yet chic interior dining space, there’s also plenty of al fresco space if you want to have your meal next to the hotel’s pool.
I first tried the Seafood Night items. The fresh Rojak Buah features juicy chunks of pineapple, guava, honeydew and cucumber. Tossed in shrimp sauce and topped with crunchy toasted peanuts, I enjoyed the subtle tang from this rojak.
You can munch on some Thai Crab Cakes with Herbs while waiting for the main meal to be served. Made with fresh crab meat, this seemingly simple dish was succulent, juicy and delightfully springy.
It’s sure to be a hit amongst the kids.
The Seafood Lemak Chilli Api features a generous serving of mussels and clams, stewed in a mildly spicy soup that bursts with herbs and lemongrass, turmeric and coconut milk.
I loved the rich, luxurious soup, which is very hearty and heart-warming. The mussels and clams were super fresh too. The soup base might be a little too intense, so I recommend pairing it with some rice.
Moving on to some of the Grill & Roast Night items, I had some Gado Gado Salad. Even though Blue Jasmine is strictly speaking a Thai restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised to discover how authentic the Gado Gado Salad was.
The nutty and sweet satay sauce was very earthy, and the fish crackers added some crunch to the salad. However, the vegetables were a little too mushy for my liking.
The Devil Wings were spicier than most of the other dishes here but still not too overpoweringly hot. It manages to pack in a lot of meaty flavours in a small package.
You’ll be spoiled by the wide selection of meats at the live selection — beef, lamb chop, chicken satay and chicken thigh — all marinated in their own, unique sauce.
The marinade for the chicken thigh stood out the most with its punchy aroma and rich taste. Turmeric, galangal, lemongrass and fish sauce came together nicely to form a savoury marinade. Don’t miss out on this combination of Thai influence and traditional Malay cuisine!
After a long day of fasting, look forward to a hearty meal at Blue Jasmine! Make sure to book in advance as it’ll probably run out fast.
