Located in the far away island of Sentosa, Bob’s Bar at Capella Singapore is an exclusive reprieve from the main island.
Taking place every Friday, Havana Night at Bob’s Bar attempts to emulate the exclusive island bars that line the Carribean coast, where guests can escape to a tropical paradise.
The interior of Bob’s bar is chic and classy, but you will probably want to sit in the sheltered out door terrace area to have that island cocktail sipping experience.
Be amazed by the multiple peacocks that walk around Capella freely, and don’t panic when one tries to steal a mojito – They seem quite accustomed to the strange oohs and aahs of humans.
Comfy lounge sofas are scattered around the terrace for your perusal while dining.
An outdoor BBQ grill churns out hearty meals along with tantalizing aromas that will permeate the entire outdoor area.
One of the prime reasons you’ll want to sit outdoors is also so you can be entertained by a very authentic sounding Caribbean Jazz band while sipping cocktails and gossiping about your colleagues.
Bob’s Fresh Pressed Mojito ($26++). Made with fresh lime juice, Plantation 3 star white rum, mint leaves as well as the addition of fresh sugar cane juice, no doubt this is a refreshing cocktail that perfectly suits the Caribbean mood. The price however, for a mojito is kinda on the steep side.
Havana Platter for Two ($50++). A platter consisting of barbecued Chicken, Beef Lamb and Pork Jowl as well as large prawns served with a spicy and tangy Jamaican “Jerk” dipping sauce.
Grilled pineapple slices, ensaladae de Papas (Cuban Potato salad), Havana Mango Rum Pepper Salsa and Garlic bread are also including in this platter.
Overall, I loved the heavy char grilled finish on the meats which especially works on the grilled lamb to reduce its gaminess. The plump prawns also had a subtle spice rub which enhances its freshness.
The meats were not overly dry, while the pork jowl particuarly deserves special mention for its even fattiness and tenderness. Quite a good platter for two I say.

Bob’s Bar has been painstakingly setup to present an authentically charming Cuban-inspired bar. Inspired by Havana’s golden era and Capella Singapore’s distinctive resort vibe, Bob’s Bar is no doubt an escape plan for the sophisticated. Be warned though, if you aren’t paying attention to the drinks tab, you just might find yourself actually spending on a mini vacation.
Havana Night starts from 6.30pm to 10pm.
