This Singaporean Low Calorie Ice Cream Tastes Just As Good Regular Ice Cream Available Now

Ice cream has to be the ultimate indulgence, thick and creamy, it is also sometimes the comforting salve on trying days. As lovely as this cold treat is, we know what they say, ‘A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips’.

When it becomes harder to zip up your jeans, you know its time to steer clear of this icy dessert. But what if you still pine for that frosty spoonful? Well, homegrown Singaporean ice cream Callery’s is here for you and they will guarantee your jeans will still fit.

Callery’s is helmed by NUS graduates who were looking for desserts that will be kinder to waistlines but not compromise on taste. After 1.5 years and a hefty six-figure sum, Callery’s was born.

Just to give you an idea, Callery’s Vanilla Bean Flavour is an impressive 59 calories per serving. That means that each pint is less than 280 calories in a total of 4.7 servings as compared to popular ice brands, which average 260 to 300 calories per serving.

Callery’s sweetens their ice cream from a polyol derived from plants called erythritol, which tastes like sugar but sans the calories. Unlike other sweeteners, erythritol does not cause bloating or a spike in blood sugar which makes it a great option for diabetics.

Of course, erythritol costs a pretty penny, more than seven times the price of normal sugar. Which is why Callery’s costs S$16.90 a pint, but still pretty comparable to other imported brands.

Besides Vanilla Bean Callery’s also comes in two other classic flavours: Belgian Dark Chocolate and Strawberries & Crème to cater to all your ice cream needs.

Not exciting enough? Founder, Ow Yau Png, informs us that more avant-garde flavours are in the works. Callery’s also sources high-quality ingredients from all over the world, so you are not getting anything less than the best.

Callery’s is also manufactured in factories that are Halal-certified and the same goes for the sourcing of their ingredients.

Now here’s an excellent alternative if you are craving for ice cream and not the calories (or the guilt).

Can healthy and ice cream really go together? I guess there is only one way to find out.
