If you think the latest human hot pot bath in China is bizarre, we’ve got another wacky idea that is guaranteed to make you question these whimsical practices.
Yunessun Spa Resort in Hakone, Japan, recently launched a Chocolate Hot Spring Bath available exclusively in line with Valentine’s Day, from now until 17 March 2019.
We all know the drill for Valentine’s Day where prices for flowers and chocolates are marked up ludicrously but perhaps that’s all too passe. This bathhouse takes the seductive dessert and lets you swim in it at JP ¥2,900 (Adult).
Twice daily, melted chocolate will fill the tub and the people behind this whimsical idea boast of its health benefits, such as beautifying the skin and promoting blood circulation as you waddle around.
However, this isn’t the first time the bathhouse has launched something so crazy like this. In 2017, they had a Maple Syrup Hot Cake Bath in conjunction with National Pancake Day.
Plus, they have boozy baths filled with red wine and Japanese sake with actual alcohol content, which yield potential to get you drunk. So weird, yet so tempting.
If you’re headed to the Land of the Rising Sun soon, you might want to schedule one for Hakone. Japan’s trademark onsen hot spring baths have just taken a 180-degree turn and whether it’s for the better or worse, it’s certainly one sweet idea. Literally!

Prices: JP ¥2,900 (Adult), JP ¥1,600 (Children aged 3-12 years), Free (Children under the age of 3)
