I can’t help but get reminded of System of a Down’s ‘Chop Suey!’ each time someone mentions Chopsuey Cafe. But, jokes aside, I’m back with another Lunar New Year special that will be available from 18 January to 15 February 2022.
Usher in the Year of the Tiger with an ‘East meets West’ feast featuring contemporary Anglo-Chinese and Southeast Asian influences with bold flavours and inspired combinations spread across two Lunar New Year Set Menus: S$68++ per pax (for two pax menu) and S$88++ per pax (for five pax menu).
The Lunar New Year Set is a five-course menu that will start you off with a thirst-quenching orange basil crush, and a prosperity toss of Chopsuey’s lucky lunar ‘lo hei‘—a healthy take on the traditional yu sheng with ingredients like trout, kale, celeriac, sprouts, red radish, blueberries, and wild rice.
Don’t forget to toast to a roaring New Year this spring with a cosy affair at Chopsuey Cafe, with the bold yet refreshing Tigers In Pairs (S$23 per glass). The cocktail, a CNY-centric concoction, is an amalgamation of champagne, gin, and mandarin oranges. Dubbed a ‘cocktail with teeth’ the festive drink will also be available from 18 January to 15 February 2022.
Begin your evening with a choice of appetisers, ranging from mouth-watering options like Shredded Filo Seafood Roll, Sticky Chicken Rice Balls, and Caramelised Pork Belly Bite.
Moving over to mains, you can choose plenty of ‘under the sea’ specials such as the Red Curry Slipper Lobsters, Grilled Yellowtail Cheek, Fragrant Lemongrass & Lime Clams, and Caramelised Orange Barramundi.
Or if you’re looking for a meat-filled main course, the menu will also feature traditional choices like the ever-so-tender Steamed Shaoxing Corn-fed Chicken, White Pepper Espresso Ribs, and Chargrilled Beef Short Rib. The array of dishes will also be accompanied by a choice of either Wok-fried Claypot Rice or Smoked Duck Wok-fried Noodles.
Lastly, end your tasty meal with a sweet treat: the all-new Steamed Kaya Pudding. Developed by Chopsuey Cafe’s dessert chefs, the dessert will surely blow you away with its contemporary twist and splash of local flavour.
If you’re looking to have an intimate gathering at home, the Lunar New Year Set Menu will also be available for delivery, and pre-orders can be made from 11 January 2022 onwards.
