3. Goodwood Park Hotel

Nestled at a corner of Orchard Road, far from the hustle and bustle of the area’s mainstay is Goodwood Park Hotel, a stalwart hotelier that has been around for as long as I can remember. This Lunar New Year, Goodwood Park Hotel serves up unique and innovative takeaway offerings for Citi cardmembers, reminiscent of their Christmas spread in 2020, with dishes from both Min Jiang and The Deli.

To start, Min Jiang’s takeaway Five Fortune Appetiser Takeaway Platter boasts abundance. It is a delightful opening course made up of five appetisers—Chilled Mini Abalone With Sweet Chilli Sauce, Crispy Prawns With Salted Egg Yolk, Spicy Popcorn Chicken in Sichuan Style, BBQ Sweet Glazed Unagi, and Marinated Jellyfish Flower

With appetisers done and dusted, train your attention towards the Slow-braised Spicy Oxtail with Pickled Mustard and Enoki Mushrooms in Claypot, which, as its name suggests, pays homage to the year of the Ox and features a tender, slow-braised oxtail and aromatics infused with familiar flavours of Sichuan.

Another praiseworthy claypot offering is the Braised Spring Chicken with Pork Belly and Sea Treasures—a luxurious and decadent showcase of 10-head Australian abalones, dried Brazilian mushrooms, dried oysters, dried scallops, sea cucumber and deep-fried taro. And then, there’s that whole spring chicken, lovingly marinated and then deep-fried, served alongside a pork belly, similarly deep-fried and then braised. It’s the kind of dish your family will be talking about until the next CNY for sure.

The Deli’s offerings, though different in style, employs the same level of innovation in its presentation and thought. There’s a Maple Butter and Almond Garlic Lotus Root Chips which sees deep-fried lotus root chips coated in a golden maple butter syrup and then tossed with minced garlic and almond flakes. A perfect pre-reunion dinner snack if you ask us.

Their Bountiful Box of Sweet Blessings is indeed bountiful and sweet and filled to the brim with 15 petit treats to celebrate the 15 days of Lunar New Year. Inside, diners can delight in sweet treats such as Chocolate Almond Tarts, Pineapple Crumble Tarts, Baked Cheesecakes, Orange Chiboust Cakes, and Coffee Vanilla Sponge Cakes. It’s every sweet tooth’s dream come true.

The Deli’s Lucky Fortune Oranges deserve notable mention for being an artisanal creation in itself. These oranges are in fact, kumquat butter cakes with a luscious vanilla buttercream layer, wrapped in a smooth fondant to look like mandarins while the box they sit in is a slab of marble cake covered in a red decorative fondant. A fitting and surprising treat in replacement of the traditional mandarin oranges.

Citi Cardmembers can enjoy up to 20% off Goodwood Park Hotel Lunar New Year takeaway. This promotion runs from 24 January to 26 February 2021.
