If you happen to be going to Mukoshikiji, Japan anytime soon, you’re in luck because Oyaizu Seiichi (a green tea ice cream specialist in the Shizuoka Prefecture) is about to release Daijinsho (“Minister’s Award”) Matcha for ¥1,800 yen (approxi. S$21.90) per scoop on 15 July 2017.
The premium ice cream will thereafter be available on a daily basis.
The special ingredient in this ultra-premium green tea ice cream is tencha — tea leaves used for matcha before the leaves are ground into fine powder.
Only 150 scoops of the Daijinsho Matcha ice cream will be available per day as there is a limited production of tencha. So be sure to head to the store as early as you can to avoid disappointment!
If you’re not willing to splurge on Daijinsho, you can check out the other tea-flavored ice creams such as matcha, hojicha, jasmine and darjeeling teas at ¥360 (S$4.40). Oyaizu Seiichi will even be offering gold powder as a free topping on all of its ice cream flavours on 15 & 16 July 2017, so be sure to check the store out if you’re in town!
