New in town: Daiyusan Sushi Bar, Kim Chuan Drive — Customisable sushi platters for family-style feasting

I know, I know, the two-pax dining limit isn’t fun for anyone. It’s been way too long since I’ve had a proper sit-down dinner with my family over a hearty and satisfying meal of sushi that all four of us always look forward to.

It’s okay if you relate on seven different levels, because the newly opened Daiyusan Sushi Bar is here to save the day.

If you’re a picky eater who generally avoids sashimi or sushi platters because you don’t really feel like eating everything on that plate, that’s okay, because same. Daiyusan Sushi Bar’s Sashimi Platter (Price TBA) is completely customisable—all you need to do is send them a text via Whatsapp with the number of hungry mouths to feed, your preferences, and let them work their magic.

If you’re ready to kick back for an evening of self-care, you can opt for their 7 Premium Fish + Uni (S$36.90). Let Daiyusan Sushi Bar surprise you, or customise it by picking your favourites from their extensive list of offerings—there’s akamiortoro, negitoro, hotate, hamachi, kinmedai, uni, ikura, salmon belly, and more. I don’t know about you, but my mouth is definitely watering just thinking about this.

Islandwide delivery is free for orders above S$100, and you can also place your orders on delivery platforms such as foodpanda, Deliveroo, and GrabFood.

You can also opt to dine in at Daiyusan Sushi Bar, and allow yourself to be totally spoilt for choice. I’m definitely a donburi girl, and Daiyusan Sushi Bar’s Sake Don (S$16.90) is what I’d pick first. Simplicity is key—give me a bowl full of thickly-sliced fresh salmon sashimi and Japanese rice, and I’m won over.

Sometimes, all we want are our comfort foods after a long day. Daiyusan Sushi Bar boasts a variety of udon that will be perfect for slurping up—take your pick from Chicken Karaage (S$10.90), Chicken Katsu (S$10.90), and more. You’ll definitely perk up after digging into springy noodles and crispy fried chicken, and that’s a promise.
