I struggle to hold my laughter as I write this. In the weirdest collaboration in 2025, PropertyGuru is partnering with matcha cafe brand Matchaya to reward Easterners in Singapore with 1,000 FREE cups of Strawberry Matcha Latte with Goji Berries at Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ) Mall on 11 Oct 2025.
This seems totally out of the blue, and I had the same thought as I was doomscrolling through social media and stumbled upon this promotion.
It all started on 25 Aug 2025, when PropertyGuru began a social media campaign which encouraged followers to represent their region of Singapore by voting for it in a ‘Best Region in Singapore’ competition. This amusing announcement was accompanied by cute mascot-like avatars representing a person from each region of Singapore.
These mascots were named Yung Money, Big Pawpaw, Lil Auntie, and Khatib B. Strangely, there were only 4 mascots, with the South of Singapore being unceremoniously left out of this grand contest. On a more personal note, I found our dear Northern representative Khatib B’s occupation as an Urban Wildlife Enthusiast incredibly funny. Is the North so untamed that you can make a career out of wildlife there?
After a month of fierce competition, the East edged out the West to claim the victory, and a free cup of strawberry matcha latte as their prize.
From 10.30am – 4.30pm, proud Easteners can indulge in a fresh cup of Strawberry Matcha Latte topped with sweet goji berries at a pop-up on the first floor of PLQ Mall. It’s definitely an indulgent treat, with the cup usually going for S$8 at Matchaya’s Takashimaya outlet. Hurry down, though, as the promotion is limited to the first 1,000 redemptions!
I clap my hands together in reluctant congratulations to my friends in the East. All is fair in love and war, but when will the North finally take a win?
