Ever heard of pork omakase? If Gamtan Meat Shop KBBQ in Desa Sri Hartamas isn’t on your radar yet, you’re in for a treat — the Singapore-born Korean BBQ specialist has just rolled out a new weekday lunch menu you simply can’t afford to miss.

Originally from Telok Ayer Street in Singapore, Gamtan KBBQ opened its first Malaysian outlet in September 2025. Founded by a master butcher and chef duo with over 15 years of experience, the brand built its reputation on precision butchery and a focused appreciation for pork

Gamtan zeroes in on quality cuts such as collar and belly, chosen for marbling, texture and depth of flavour. These are showcased in its guidedpork omakase” experience known as the Butcher’s Cut, where each portion is prepared and grilled to perfection.

The newly introduced weekday lunch menu, available Mon to Fri (12pm – 3pm), centres on comforting Korean classics. The star of the show is the Busan-style Dwaeji Gukbap, a pork bone soup simmered for at least 18 hours to draw out collagen richness and flavour from carefully selected bones.

Only 50 bowls are prepared daily due to the lengthy cooking process, so once they’re gone, they’re gone. There’s also a set option that includes extra pork slices for those who prefer something more substantial.

Beyond the soup, the lunch selection features Gamtan’s signature Sotbap, a claypot-style rice dish served sizzling at the table. Toppings include steak, pork, eel and abalone, creating a meal that’s still not widely found in Malaysian Korean BBQ spots

Traditional stew sets such as kimchi stew, soybean stew and soft tofu stew are also available, each served with rice and side dishes for a complete midday spread. For something extra, savoury pancakes like truffle potato, kimchi and seafood add more variety.

In the evenings, the spotlight returns to the Butcher’s Cut, Gamtan’s pork omakase-style trio featuring premium cuts with different textures and marbling.

If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s Daepa Makchang — thick-cut pork intestine oven-seared and finished over charcoal — or the handmade Sujebi, with hand-torn dough served in broth.
