The holiday season is upon us, and it’s time to head out and makan with the family. As you may know, the National Environment Agency (NEA) has been closing hawker centres for renovation works. Thankfully, only Pasir Panjang Food Centre will be closed for repairs and redecoration, although it’s for 3 months, from 1 Dec 2025 to 28 Feb 2026.

Pasir Panjang Food Centre is a stone’s throw away from Pasir Panjang MRT, nestled between Labrador Nature Reserve and Haw Par Villa. It’s the perfect place to have lunch or dinner with your kids after a walk in the park or a thorough scaring in the villa.
It features over 40 hawker stalls and a charming outdoor seating area, making it the definition of ‘old-school cool’. You still have plenty of time to visit the hawker centre before it closes. It has plenty of must-try stalls, including an affordable ramen and herbal mutton soup that’s MICHELIN Guide-approved!

Mugiwara Tonkotsu Ramen is a hawker stall famous for having tight opening hours, with the shutters only raised on Fridays and weekends, from 12pm to 2pm. Recently, they’ve expanded their opening days to Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

There’s only 1 thing on the menu, their Tonkotsu Ramen, which costs just S$6.50; it’s practically a steal. The broth has a soy-like milkiness to it that mixes with the savouriness of the yakiniku strips.

Don’t forget Ivy’s Hainanese Herbal Mutton Soup, which has been featured on the MICHELIN Guide for Singapore since 2017! They serve an unconventional dish called Hainanese Herbal Mutton Soup.

Their Herbal Mutton Soup starts from a budget-friendly S$14, and goes up in cost and size to a crazy S$66. I am a little curious what the maximum size and price have to offer, but my wallet tells me no.
Don’t dilly-dally! You have until 1 Dec 2025 to visit Pasir Panjang Food Centre, before the 3-month-long wait begins.
