There’s no heartbreak more painful than being excited to eat your favourite meal at your favourite hawker centre, only to find out that it’s closed for a few months. You keep your head high and go to a different location, but it’s closed as well. Well, what now?
To save you from unfathomable agony, here’s a list of hawker centres that are closed for repair and renovation until Apr, Jun, and Jul 2023.
Geylang East Centre Market and Food Corner’s closure started on 1 Mar and ends on 30 Jun 2023. Geylang East’s beloved food centre offers a wide range of eats like traditional Malay kueh, roti prata, and lontong. They also have porridge, strong coffee, and wanton mee.
People’s Park Food Centre will be under repair and renovation from 1 Apr to 30 Jun 2023. This food centre mainly hosts stalls selling Chinese cuisine. They have dishes like yong tau foo, mala, and braised duck.
Holland Village Market and Food Centre will close on 1 May to 31 Jul 2023. This small hawker centre is known for affordable eats in the middle of an area filled with bars, cafes, and brunch spots. Despite its size, it has a wide selection of food to choose from, like claypot rice, bento, and fried rice.
Similarly, Bedok Reservoir Market and Food Centre will temporarily halt operations from 1 May to 31 Jul 2023. This morning food centre typically feeds the early risers of Bedok local delights like chicken rice, kway chap, and even Western dishes like sirloin steak. If you plan on dropping by before May, do arrive early as most stalls close by 1pm.
Sembawang Hills Food Centre, Mayflower Market and Food Centre, Holland Drive Market and Food Centre will all be closed until 30 Apr 2023.
These hawker centres will eventually reopen with better facilities to help serve you better. Till then, be sure to check a food centre’s opening hours before visiting one!
