Having served classic Singaporean food for 6 years, Enjoy Eating House and Bar located in Kam Leng Hotel, 383 Jalan Besar, will cease operations on 28 Mar 2023.
The heavy news was broken through the restaurant’s Facebook on 11 Mar 2023, as the team behind Enjoy Eating House and Bar thanked patrons for the many memories made during its operations. The reason given behind the outlet’s closure was due to the ending of its lease, as the hotel was converted into a worker’s dormitory due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Founded by a duo of childhood friends James and Joel, Enjoy aims to provide good food for customers to have their friends and family. As firm believers that precious memories are just made sweeter with both amazing food and company, they set off to create Enjoy Eating House and Bar. This is quite a heartwarming statement, which honestly made me smile in the midst of writing this article.
The design put into Enjoy Eating House also contained this sentiment. The menu is a mini version of those nostalgic calendars my grandparents kept on the walls when I was a child! I believe that the sight of this would bring back many memories for all of us, even the younger ones.
We will not just miss the comforting ambience, but the classics Enjoy Eating House served as well. Previously, our team visited their other branch at 30 Stevens Road to try out the food and we were not disappointed.
Dishes that knocked it out of the park included the Crispy Barramundi with Chef Joel’s Red Curry (S$26 for fillet, S$48 for whole fish), as the tenderness of the fish matched amazingly well with the thickness of the rich gravy.
If you’re feeling sad about the closure of Enjoy Eating House’s first outlet at Jalan Besar, there’s no need to worry as its Stevens Road outlet will still remain in operation, offering a good majority of its original menu.
Another thing to note is that as Enjoy Eating House enters the final months of its lease at Jalan Besar, they’ll be launching an exciting pop-up concept called Enjoy Xia Hokkien Mee Kitchen. Make sure to check it out and bring great company for the optimum experience!
