Singapore has recently stepped up its initiatives towards healthy living and healthy eating. If you’re amongst those who are trying to make small changes to your diet, this is for you.
WOAH! Protein Ice Cream is a vegetarian and gluten-free ice cream brand that has recently hit retail stores with its one-of-a-kind protein ice cream blends.
Using Stevia as their sweetener and whey protein in their creations, it’s definitely a healthier option compared to other ice cream products that are high in sugar content.
Among six different flavours, only two of them have been launched islandwide: Salted Caramel (S$24 per tub) and Chocolate (S$24 per tub). For people like me who know they should eat healthily but can’t give up junk food, I highly recommend giving these a shot.
The brand was founded by Mr Edward Foo, who initially created these ice creams for his mother who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia back in 2017. To be frank, I thought the taste of protein would be very prominent in the ice cream. But it turns out both the flavours tasted just like ice cream, if not, better.
I tried the Salted Caramel first and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t as sweet as expected. Personally, I prefer my salted caramel flavours to be on the milder side so that it’ll still be palatable even after half a pint. (Toppings not included)
As we took a spoonful of the Chocolate flavour, each mouthful was packed with a piquant taste of the richest chocolate you can imagine. The thick and creamy consistency of the ice cream resembled gelato and goes well with the deep chocolate flavour.
Although slightly on the pricier side, it comes with a high amount of protein and iron, with a low amount of fats. This is definitely the tastiest healthy ice cream you can get.
