The new iPhone 12 is about to land on our shores — Here’s what you need to know

My fellow iPhone devotees, take heed—the new iPhone 12 is about to drop on our shores. The much-anticipated latest model is set to be released on the 23rd of October, and if you’re too excited already, read on.

The iPhone 12 comes packed with all the bells and whistles you’d expect of an ultra-futuristic Apple product—like a Ceramic Shield protection on its face to ensure optimal screen protection. It’s Super Retina XDR screen also has double the amount of pixels than it’s predecessors, and is also 11% thinner, 15% smaller and 16% lighter.

For the first time ever, the iPhone 12 is also 5G-friendly, making this the first Apple product to allow you to connect to next-generation internet networks directly from your phone. Don’t worry about bursting your data limits or draining your battery quickly, too, because the phone comes with a Smart Data function that will automatically switch you back to 4G mode if it doesn’t think you need 5G speeds at a point in time.

As an Apple user, I take their claims seriously, and if they say that the A14 Bionic chipset which will accompany the iPhone 12 is the “fastest chip ever in a smartphone”, I believe them. This makes the iPhone 12 40% more powerful than the iPhone 11, and with the latest iOS14, the ultra-smooth and futuristic user experience will be an Apple fan’s dream for sure.

As usual, the phone will allow you to unleash your inner creative photographer with a camera that has a marked 27% increase in low-light performance as compared to iPhone 11’s already-strong camera. It comes with dual cameras—a wide camera and an ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view.

The new phone comes in five colours—black, white, red, green, and blue. If you simply can’t wait to get your hands on one, jump the queue in the retail outlets and place your pre-orders this Friday, the 16th of October.

The iPhone 12 is expected to retail at around SGD$1,299, while the iPhone 12 mini, with a slightly smaller screen, will start at around SGD$1,149. You can place your pre-order for the mini version on the 6th of November.
