The mooncakes come in two flavours (Yam and Mung Bean), with a salted egg lava surprise centre. Each box comes with eight pieces of mooncakes at S$40.

The packaging of the mooncakes are so beautiful, it feels like a present from you to you.

IRVINS uses its own exclusively designed fabric, which is silky to the touch and can probably be re-purposed as a scarf. They wrap the mooncakes using the intricate Japanese Furoshiki technique.

The mooncakes are made with charcoal snowskin, imprinted with the IRVINS logo and name of the flavour.

IRVINS recommends you to microwave the mooncakes for 10 seconds to get that salted egg lava oozing, but from experience, we suggest 30 seconds to really get the filling going.

We tried the IRVINS Salted Egg Lava Mung Bean Mooncake first. We found that the mung bean paste was creamy, but pretty mild in flavour. The salted egg was rather oozy, but could be saltier and stronger in taste.

We tried the IRVINS Salted Egg Lava Yam Mooncake next and found the yam paste to be similarly creamy and quite distinct in taste. It paired well with the salted egg filling, and we enjoyed this flavour more than the mung bean mooncake.

Overall, the salted egg mooncakes delivered better than we expected. The yam and mung bean pastes, which were more muted in flavour, acted as a nice base for the salted egg as well.

Planning to gift some mooncakes to your friends and family this Mid-Autumn Festival? IRVINS Salted Egg Lava Mooncakes will even save you the trouble of having to wrap your mooncakes.
