Has your child ever wondered about what kind of career they would want to pursue in the future? KidZania can help inspire them! An interactive indoor theme park where children can role-play real-world jobs, KidZania will be returning to Singapore in 2024.

The theme park first opened in Sentosa back in 2016, with a mini replica town complete with stores, streets, buildings, signboards and even trees.

After 4 years of operation, KidZania Singapore closed in 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, laying off 103 employees. According to the company, this was due to the fact that their temporary closure in April 2020, caused by the circuit breaker measures, led to them earning zero ticket revenue.

Now that COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, KidZania has announced its return to Singapore, with the theme park being slated to open in the first quarter of 2024 in the same place that it used to be located in. The theme park’s developer, Sim Leisure Group (SLG), will be refurbishing Sentosa’s Family Entertainment Centre, which spans 7,600 square metres.

For the uninitiated, KidZania provides children with a fun interactive learning experience where they can role-play real-world professions, including being nurses, firefighters, police officers, fashion designers, bakers and more.

To make things more exciting, KidZania will have new facilities, such as an animation studio and a maker’s space. Kids can even try out being a YouTube entrepreneur! (Why is this getting me excited?)

KidZania was founded in Mexico back in 1997, with its first outlet opening in Santa Fe, Mexico City in 1999. Since then, the company has expanded to having outlets all over the world, including countries like the USA, Egypt, Japan and Saudi Arabia.

As a child (and adult) who struggled a lot in finding a job that I was passionate about, I certainly would have loved going to KidZania when I was younger. I’m looking forward to seeing what the reopened theme park will be like!
