Our Verdict On The New McDonald’s Salted Egg Yolk Loaded Fries, Peach Pie & Pandan Sundae

It comes as no surprise that McDonald’s has once again, revealed new exclusive items.

Mcdonald's 2019 3

McDonald’s Salted Egg Yolk Fries, Peach Pie and Pandan Ice-Cream are the three latest contending snacks added to the menu, starting 3 January 2019. Available for a limited time only, there was no time to waste to get my hands on these treats.

With the salted egg food, snacks and even drinks, nestling comfortably in Singapore’s limelight, I had high expectations for their Salted Egg Yolk Loaded Fries (S$4.10).

The box we were served was coated with an average amount of salted egg yolk sauce, which was strangely tangy and creamy, and tasted more like mentaiko.

While there was no distinct trace of salted egg, we have to admit it was oddly addictive, save for a colleague who thought it tasted like spoiled food. So don’t expect too much!

Mcdonald's 2019 5

The McDonald’s Peach Pie (S$1.40) sounded like a formidable contender to take on the classic Apple Pie, with a vibrant pink crust pocketing a hot peach filling.

All pretty in pink, I quite enjoyed the peach pie, but my colleagues thought it tasted rather artificial. Perhaps, I was too comfortable with the Apple Pie at Mcdonald’s and this funky alternative was rather refreshing. Imagine peach tea in a pie — that’s what you get!

While it can’t top the Apple Pie, I’d get this again just for a change.

Mcdonald's 2019 1

Another dessert entry from McDonald’s features Pandan flavours, and we gave the Pandan McFlurry (S$3) and Pandan Sundae (S$2) a try.

The leafy green ice-cream looks like peppermint upon first look and I’ll admit, I wasn’t particularly interested in trying this.

Mcdonald's 2019 2

The locally-inspired flavour was decadent and indulgent but nothing too special. We think Pandan lovers would enjoy this.

These new snacks are also available via McDelivery and GrabFood, but we advise trying them in store to ensure the best quality.

With an unconfirmed end date, you probably want to try them before they sell out. However, it’s definitely not worth a special trip down. Though, you’ll be happy to know that the Har Jeong Kai drumlets are back!
