Popular donut brand, Mister Donut, has announced that it’ll be opening its first flagship store in Singapore. The upcoming permanent store will be located at Junction 8 and is expected to open in May 2023. It was last seen as a pop-up store at Jurong Point back in Jul 2022.

Mister Donut is one of the biggest Japanese donut franchises around, with 9,557 stores in Asia alone, including countries like Indonesia and Hong Kong.

Despite the expansion, Mister Donut promises the same high-quality donuts, using ingredients directly from Japan and having all staff sent for training at the Mister Donut Academy in Osaka.

It seems that Mister Donut will be a sure hit among Singaporeans, with the previous pop-up store at Jurong Point racking in crowds even before it was opened. Our writer even had to queue a staggering total of 4 hours and 15 minutes just for a box of donuts!

Back at the pop-up store at Jurong Point, the donuts were priced at S$2.30 or S$2.50 each. They were also available in a bundle of 6 donuts (S$13.50) and 10 donuts (S$22).

While prices for the upcoming flagship outlet at Junction 8 have yet to be released, do expect the prices to increase due to inflation.

When they had their pop-up store, we managed to sample these flavours: Old-FashionedChocolate Old-FashionedChocolateGolden ChocolateCoconut Chocolate and Angel Cream.

The Old-Fashioned donuts were crunchy whilst being soft and dense on the inside. It was also not very sweet when compared to other donut brands here. The ChocolateGolden Chocolate and Coconut Chocolate donuts had a cakey consistency and fell apart easily though their cocoa taste wasn’t as strong as anticipated.

Lastly, the Angel Cream donut was filled with light whipped cream and had a pillowy soft bread-like texture. Again, it wasn’t too sweet even with the icing sugar.

Overall, despite enjoying the donuts, we didn’t think it was worth the ridiculously long queue, especially with many flavours becoming unavailable by the time we got to order. We fully expect the same snaking queues to happen again at Junction 8 in May 2023, so happy waiting!
