Mom’s chicken curry is good, but we can’t deny ourselves a delightful bowl of sweet Japanese curry. Few restaurants focus on a menu surrounding just curry dons, so it’s no surprise to hear the masses chime Monster Curry as their go-to Japanese curry place.

Known for their large servings best for sharing, Monster Curry is living up to their name quite literally with their new Godzilla-themed menu from 18 May t0 15 July 2019. With the release of the classic sci-fi, cult hit, Godzilla: King Of Monsters being released soon, Monster Curry’s Godzilla-themed menu sure is an exciting release for fans.

Monster Curry Godzilla 1

The Godzilla Combo Curry (S$28.80) sees a massive combination of the restaurant’s favourites in a single plate. Fresh and crisp breaded Pork Katsu, Fried Shrimp, Tori Karaage and Premium Beef Steak to go with Monster Curry’s signature demi-glace Japanese curry sauce and rice.

Monster Curry Godzilla 2

While that’s a massive portion for more than one, the Godzilla Katsu Curry (S$14.80) sees a smaller serving of pork katsu and takoyaki.

The curry dishes are nothing quite to rave about, considering they are the restaurant’s existing dishes reconstructed for the theme.

Monster Curry Godzilla 4

It might be strange heading to Monster Curry for dessert, but for their Godzilla Volcano Honey Toast (S$12.80), it’s ample reason to go. The dessert is a tower of large deep-fried cubed bread slathered with honey and butter topped with mixed berry sauce, fresh strawberries and blueberries finished off with a scoop of Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream.

It’ll be a pity to constrain Godzilla to mere food; you’ll get Godzilla merchandise featuring the creature in various incarnations available for both purchase and redemption. This includes T-shirts (from S$23), Keychains (S$4.50), Coasters (S$6 for a set of four designs), Monster Curry Plates (S$58) and Menko cards.

If you’re not a spender, then perhaps the last in that list would be something you’ll want to notice. Menko cards are used in a traditional game, but beyond child’s play (literally), they just might be your ticket to Japan.

Bring home a pack of three Menko cards with every Godzilla Combo Curry or Godzilla Katsu Curry purchased and be the first to collect all 29 different designs to win a stay at trip for Japan for two and a stay at the Godzilla hotel!

Don’t miss out on photo opportunities with the towering 1.8-metre Godzilla mascot specially flown in from Japan. Check out Monster Curry’s Facebook page for updates on the schedule; the roaming monster might just be in your neighbourhood!

Dates & times: Available at all Monster Curry outlets from 18 May to 15 July 2019
Prices: S$15 – S$30 per pax
