You probably know what a “blind box” is by now, given the way it’s swept through Singapore via retailers like POP MART. It’s essentially a box containing a toy or figurine from a collection of designs, and you have no idea which design you’ll be getting until you open the box. Nana & Friends Cafe has taken the blind box concept to a new level and made it a dining concept.

Located in Suntec City, Nana & Friends Cafe is decorated in bright, cheery pinks with images of Nana and her companions on the walls. How does the blind box concept work, you ask?

Whenever you order a Bingsu (S$18 each), you get a number for your order. When your order is ready, the number will be displayed above a box that will play music and reveal a surprise – a random plushie.

You can get one of 5 different designs, featuring Nana and her friends: Moogie, Bunbun, Grumbo and Fluff. Each plushie comes with a key ring so you can hang it on your bag as decoration, and more characters will be introduced later on.

Bingsu are available in 6 different flavours: Mango, Matcha, Strawberry, Chocolate Caramel, Pineapple and Jiuxian. Each bingsu is served with a jiggly character pudding and an acrylic collar that unleashes a cascade of cheese foam when lifted.

The menu isn’t just bingsu, of course.

For drinks, look forward to items such as Ice Passionfruit Soda (S$6.50), Ice Honey Lemon Soda (S$6), and Ice Raspberry Lemonade (S$6.50).

- tarts

A selection of Tarts is also available, and flavours will rotate regularly. Each tart is S$5, regardless of flavour.
