To all you North-easties, you can officially rejoice because No. 25 Minced Meat Noodle is opening its second outlet in the heartlands of Singapore— Punggol! On 31 October 2022, their familiar-yet-unique tonkotsu-inspired pork broth will be served alongside new additions to the menu.
The newest outlet is situated at One Punggol Hawker Centre, just a three-minute walk away from Sam Kee LRT station.
Ever since the opening of its Bukit Merah outlet in February 2022, the noodle stall has been packed with overwhelming support. Now that its second outlet will be opening at Punggol, bak chor mee cravings could be easily satisfied. Did I mention the exciting additions to the menu totally exclusive to the Punggol outlet?
They have included a fresh new take— the Seafood Abalone Noodle. Priced at S$12, the bowl consists of sliced abalone, mussels, scallops, and lumps of crab meat. Incorporated with premium ingredients brimmed to the bowl, I am honestly surprised at how it is only priced at this value. On top of that, the robust bowl of noodles is paired with a bowl of soup filled with Fuzhou prawn balls on the side.
Undeniably, the store’s winning point is their immense addition of tee-poh, a dried sole fish, and their pork-bone broth. Boiled for more than eight hours, its gelatinous goodness and full-bodied flavours are guaranteed aplenty behind each spoonful.
Next on the list is the Fish Maw Soup (S$10). A bowl packed with collagen, it comes with subtle hints of garlic.
Obviously you can’t come to a minced meat store without ordering their Signature Minced Meat Noodle, available at different price points such as S$8, S$10 and S$12. This time, the components differ from its Bukit Merah outlet. The original fish dumplings included with the soup would be replaced with Fuzhou fishballs and Taiwan meatballs instead!
Additionally, if you would like a palate cleanser from the rich flavours, you could order 粿条白的 (white kway teow in English). A lighter option in comparison to egg noodles, its hefty garlic taste makes you want to go for more. This can only be ordered as a side, for an additional S$1 without meat.
Clearly, the aroma of its pork lard is not lacking in any way. Although as a side, it is one of my personal favourites in their new inclusions.
With the brand new line up, I would not be surprised to see a snaking queue in the months to come. I am pretty darn sure that there would be people travelling the distance for these soup-erior items!
