I love local-inspired names for businesses— like No Horse Run which translates to “bo beh zhao” in Hokkien. No Horse Run’s second outlet located within Choa Chu Kang MRT station had their soft launch on 10 June 2022. Unlike their first branch which only offers waffles and gelato, their newly-opened outlet also offers all-day breakfast, traditional Sarawak kolo mee, various pastas, and even coffee!

No Horse Run offers Buttermilk Waffles (S$5.50) and Pandan Gula Melaka Waffles (S$6.50) that pair perfectly with their choices of Gelato (S$4.20 for single, S$8 for double), with an additional top up for Premium (+S$0.80). You can expect local-themed flavours like Kaya Toast, Muah Chee and Cereal Milk, just to name a few.

For those feeling peckish, No Horse Run Choa Chu Kang has a selection of pastas like Chilli Tuna Spaghetti (S$8.80) and Bacon Mushroom Carbonara (S$8.80). For those who prefer more local food options, you can go for their Classic Kolo Mee (S$6), and Ngoh Hiang (S$6.50)— there’s something for everyone!

The recent influx of interesting kopitiam stalls and hip cafes appearing in our heartlands means that we don’t have to head downtown just to get a good meal or dessert.

Starting from 1 July 2022, the owner of No Horse Run Choa Chu Kang has made special arrangements with SMRT which allows them to run their cafe operations till 2am! I can’t seem to think of another food and beverage establishment that’s opened till this late at a MRT station in Singapore— or am I wrong?

I am sulking at the thought of how lucky Choa Chu Kang-ers are! Should I consider moving there in the near future? We’ll see.
