Bold flavours—that is why I absolutely love Thai food. Indeed, there are few things in the world that a comforting bowl of green curry can’t solve. Truth be told, I crave for a plate of olive fried rice once every week, at least. Is it an obsession? Perhaps.

But it is one that I unequivocally declare to those around me. In my line of work, I am required to always be on the lookout for new eateries. Yet, for Nummun Thai Kitchen, sourcing it out may have stemmed from my own volition.

Having opened its doors less than a month ago, Nummun Thai sits at the bottom of Thomson Imperial Court, a building whose history spans over two decades. There is, however, nothing old-fashioned about this establishment. Its extensive menu features pretty much every classic Thai dish you can think of, and at very reasonable prices.

The folks at Nummun Thai believe in dishing out authentic Thai grub to its customers, a sentiment that is evident from their featured menu items. Yes, they do Pineapple Fried Rice (S$8) and Tom Yum Goong (S$12), and so much more. Simply browsing through their menu is a highly educational affair. Pla Pao (S$23), or salt-crusted grilled fish, is a first for me.

Grilled sea bass is presented alongside their namjin seafood sauce, a feisty combination for all the seafood lovers out there.

Of course, the menu item which has everyone’s attention is the Crab Meat Omelette (S$28). Very reminiscent of Jay Fai’s Michelin-starred rendition, this dish is not one I see often on restaurant menus. In fact, we have a recipe here on how to make your very own at home! While the Bangkok hawker’s accolades are no doubt intimidating, Nummun Thai’s version promises not to disappoint.

Since we can’t fly to Thailand for the time being, come on down to Nummun Thai Kitchen to indulge in all your Thai favourites. You can also call +65 8886 8699 to make a reservation. For more recommendations, do also check out our article on what to buy from Golden Mile’s Thai Supermarket.
