Whenever I go to Japan, the one thing I romanticise has got to be the little bento shops along the streets of its underground train stations. What I’d give to have these convenient yet delicious options here in Singapore.

If you’re like me and have ever marvelled at them with just a tinge of envy, you’ve got to check out Off.ice Pantry! It’s a cosy eatery tucked away in Collyer Quay Centre that sells bentos and other lunch fixes at affordable prices!

The bentos at this hidden gem come with a variety of meat and vegetable sides in different combinations like cai fan, but with a novelty that comes from its boxed form. An option with 3 vegetables will set you back just S$3 while meatier options with Sweet and Sour Pork and Black Pepper Prawn are priced slightly higher at a nonetheless affordable S$4.

While these bentos come with more of a local twist, you’ll still be able to transport yourself to the motherland with their Japanese-style rice boxes in options such as the Chicken Yakitori Don (S$8) and Unagi Don (S$10). For the health junkies, salad and pasta bowls from S$4.50 are available too.

Fight off the hunger pangs with Off.ice Pantry’s selection of hot snacks, including Wasabi Prawn with Tobikko (S$6) and some fried-to-order Prawn Paste Chicken (S$4). The place truly lives up to its name with its line-up of your usual pantry finds such as cup noodles and boxes of Pocky to help you combat your food coma. 

With Off.ice Pantry’s sizable assortment of quick, affordable and delicious options, the CBD folks have really lucked out.
