New Punggol Town Hub coming in hot with a 700-seater hawker centre, 5-storey library & many more

Here I am, back with another update on Punggol. As we all know, Punggol is a relatively new estate hence, the fact that it is constantly improving. Apart from being home to Waterway Point and the newly opened, Northshore Plaza, North-East siders will be happy to know that One Punggol will be opening in the middle of 2022.

As per Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean’s Facebook post, the new hub, named One Punggol, will be home to a 700-seat hawker centre, a five-storey library, childcare centre, and senior care facilities. He also mentioned that the new hub will help build a stronger and more united community by connecting residents to vital services and recreational facilities.

Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean and other MPs from the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC attended the topping-up ceremony on Saturday morning where he revealed that the hub’s completion was delayed due to the pandemic and will only be completed in mid-2022. Additionally, The Straits Times also reported that Dr Janil Puthucheary mentioned that the building is already 80% complete.

One of its key features is its central atrium whereby all five floors and services are interconnected and serve as the main thoroughfare. It’ll also be highly accessible to the public as it’s located very near Punggol MRT station and Waterway Point, and nearby HDB blocks.

What I’m excited about is the new 700-seater hawker centre. Like all Singaporeans, I’m a sucker for all things gastronomical so this is a huge highlight considering the number of food options that’ll be available.

Apart from that, there will also be more facilities for the active, a rooftop garden, sun deck, and sky deck. I can’t wait for its launch!
