With the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period officially over, we’re moving into Phase 1 of gradually re-opening businesses.
While we’re attempting to return to some semblance of normality, the F&B industry is still trying to find ways to keep afloat and deliver your favourite meals right to your doorstep.
PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road wants to bring you the best of their E-shop, which offers islandwide delivery and takeaway, just in time for Father’s Day! The online portal allows you to order from Spice Brasserie and Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant in just a few clicks.
With deliveries available daily from 11am – 9.30pm, you only need to fulfil a minimum order of S$50 in your basket. There’s also a S$5 delivery fee applicable.
Si Chuan Duo Hua is serving all fathers delectable options this Father’s Day, with six-course delivery and takeaway set menus that are sure to fill your bellies. Choose from either S$49.90++ per person or S$78++ per person sets, which come with a complimentary Steamed Brown Rice Honeycomb Cake. Do note that a minimum order for two persons is required.
One of my top picks from Set A (S$49.90++ per person)—which came as a set for two people—is the Double-boiled Fish Maw Soup With Dried Scallops And Chinese Cabbage. The soup was light and refreshing, something that worked wonders in opening my appetite.
There was a subtle sweetness to it, as well as a welcoming aroma that was mildly herbaceous.
Another dish that drew my attention was the Halibut Fillet With Fresh Fruits In Champagne And Passion Fruit Sauce. You wouldn’t think fruits would go well with this flaky fish, but it only elevated its natural sweetness and I couldn’t stop going in for more.
I especially enjoyed how moist the flesh was, and how it didn’t turn to mush, even when it had to endure the journey of being delivered. You’ll want to slow down and savour this dish a lil’ more.
I can’t possibly miss out on the Braised Pork Belly With Signature Bean Curd Medley, with its succulent hearty braised pork chunks and silky herbal gravy. The bean curd married beautifully with the gelatinous fat layers of the braised pork.
The pork was tender and I could’ve easily eaten this with a side of steamed white rice, and called it a day.
On a sweet note, the Soya Bean With Red Bean, Taro And Sweet Potato Balls was a welcome ending. It wasn’t cloyingly saccharine, and this dessert proved to be a nostalgic recipe—something I’m sure your Dad will enjoy.
The complimentary Steamed Brown Rice Honeycomb Cake was surprisingly deliciousness, in spite of its unassuming looks. It was springy and light; almost chiffon-like.
Although it is a honeycomb cake, it was sugary and, in fact, reminded me of yam. I could easily see myself enjoying this with a cup of coffee.
For other Asian options, Spice Brasserie is also serving up their rendition of “Ramly” Style Chicken Burger (S$6.80++). The burger was dense and although it proved to be much lighter than the usual Ramly burger you’d find at pasar malams, this one was moreish and really satisfying.
There was little grease, and the chilli-mayonnaise sauce didn’t dominate the burger, allowing the chicken patty and egg omelette to really shine.
Is your Dad a meat lover? Then Spice Brasserie has you covered with their Charcoal BBQ Black Charsiew (S$48++ per 1kg). It was delightfully sticky and sweet, with a hint of smokiness. The fat-to-meat ratio was perfect, giving Dad all the more reason not to share.
Treat your Dad on Father’s Day to a fancy meal, even while you and the family are staying safe at home. With only a S$5 delivery fee, there’s no reason to order right now! What’s more, from now till 31 December 2020, you’ll get to enjoy 15% off with a minimum spend of S$50 and free delivery if you spend at least S$60.
Get clickin’ and give Dad a meal he truly deserves!
