The Quincy Hotel is one of Singapore’s best boutique hotels, being cited as one of the top 10 hotels in Singapore by CNN. And I can see why they deserve such praise.
Situated near Orchard Road, The Quincy hotel makes a perfect urban getaway for locals, especially with the Qool Weekend package that I’ll be experiencing in this review. It’s essential a couples’ staycation package, so don’t bring a friend or it’ll get as awkward as a fart in the elevator.
Stylish and contemporary, featuring lots of large glass panels, The Quincy hotel’s small lobby and restaurant still manages to look spacious and welcoming.
The studio room is clean and sleek with an amazing view. Blinds can be brought down for the windows, which will pretty much make it as dark as the bat cave. The cushy side ledge by the window makes a perfect spot for reading or surfing the net with some natural light.
The bathroom… has an open concept. For the more… open couples. Ok, there are blinds you can draw also, so you don’t have destroy your eyes seeing your significant other bomb Hiroshima.
I love Molton Brown toiletries, which are so refreshing.
The Qool Weekend package also comes with a bottle of red wine. Definitely enough to get you in the romantic mood during your stay here.
You also get free access to the mini bar if the wine isn’t enough.
The ‘infinity’ pool at Quincy. It’s rather more finite compared to the Marina Bay Sands one though.
As part of the Qool Weekend package, there is an Art Jam session that starts at 3pm. Couples are invited to freestyle on a canvas with acrylic paint in a combined effort. There’s no theme whatsoever, but there are books you can refer to in case you get painter’s block.
The advice is don’t think too much into it and just paint whatever you want. Helps if you don’t have a partner who is anal about proper body proportions though. It’s abstract danggit!
Tada! This is an abstract painting of my ginger cat, Tiger, biting my foot. True story.
There’s a gym to work out too if that’s your thing to do during a vacation.
Free flow of light refreshments by Dean and Deluca are served throughout the day. Yup. This is more my thing.
There are lemon cakes, muffins, cakes, yoghurt and coffee/tea you can stuff yourself with the whole day. We had the refreshments right after Art Jam, like a royal high tea break.
Bolognese Pasta. I forgot to eat lunch, so we also ordered room service courtesy of Modesto’s Restaurant. The Penne pasta was a bit stiff and starchy, even though the tomato bolognese sauce was meaty and pretty good.
Tuna Pizza. The pizza was a lot better, with a thin sturdy crust and decent amounts of tuna.
The view outside our room was breath-taking. Far East group owns The Quincy Hotel too in case you didn’t know.
From 6-8pm, the restaurant at Quincy serves free flow cocktails, beer and wine if you’re on the Qool weekend staycation!
From 9pm onwards, there is also a movie night screening at the pool. You don’t really get to pick a show, so we retired back to our room to watch ‘Scandal’ instead. Also, do come early as seats are limited to a first come first serve basis.
The hotel looks neon trippy magical at night.
And in the morning, there is a hotel buffet breakfast waiting for you. The spread is not huge, but adequate.
Scrambled eggs, bacon (was lil’ lacklustre), apple pastry, cereal and orange juice. Simple western breakfast items that are so comforting to have. The restaurant view in the early morning is again, spectacular in Quincy Hotel.
Oh, this might seem trivial to some readers, but The Quincy hotel’s Qool weekend also allows a late checkout at 3pm. Hell yea! That allows you to lounge around and really maximize the soft bed and linens.
Overall an amazing, planned out experience where you can pretty much just stay in the hotel the whole day, yet have engaging activities to do. For the lazy couple just looking to relax without having to move around much, Quincy Hotel’s Qool weekend package is just the thing.
