I remember having many visits to the Mandai Zoo. It was always the highlight of my school holidays. I would always get super excited. The night before, I would lay awake in anticipation of the trip. I haven’t been back in a while.
Coming in March 2025, however, I have a reason to. The Mandai Wildlife Group will be launching the first phase of a whole new wildlife park at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve called Rainforest Wild Asia. This is the first adventure-based park in Asia and will take you through the heart of an Asian rainforest.
The Rainforest Wild Asia is an impressive 13-hectare wildlife park. It boasts 29 unique animal species and 7,000 new Southeast Asian trees and shrubs.
It is an all-inclusive experience for all ages. There is even a walkway for those who wish to take in the scenery and stroll through the park.
For the thrill-seekers out there, you can venture out on a path that takes you right to the centre of the action. You will traverse logs, boulders and streams as you navigate the park. High-adrenaline activities also await you.
One of these activities is the Canopy Jump. It is a 20-metre free fall jump at the centre of the park. The structure itself is the highest peak of the park. So, it’s the best place to get the perfect view of the entire park.
There are many other parts of the wildlife park to look forward to: the Karsts, the Watering Hole and the many animal habitats.
The one I most look forward to is the Cavern, a network of cave chambers inspired by the Mulu Caves in Sarawak.
Group CEO of Mandai Wildlife Group, Mike Barclay spoke of the new wildlife park. He hopes that it creates “strong feelings of connection to nature and a renewed determination to cherish and protect our planet”.
Rainforest Wild Asia promises to be a new, enriching experience for all Singaporeans.
