Every time I visit Salt Grill & Sky Bar, it never ceases to impress me. With floor-to-ceiling windows that open up to the expansive view of Singapore’s skyline, it doesn’t matter whether you dine there in the day or at night.

Now you have one more reason to take the 55-floor ride up on weekends and public holidays with the introduction of their Weekend Social brunch.

The menu is classic and refined; don’t expect eggs benedict or French toast here. There are small and large plates, with one of my absolute favourites being the Parmesan & Truffle Polenta (S$18). It’s peppered with shaved truffles for an intoxicating aroma and the polenta was as silky as whipped potatoes.

It’s an earthy dish that’s also comforting. I highly recommend mopping up every last dollop with the complimentary bread you’ll receive.

I was eyeing the Roasted Spencer Gulf Prawns (S$24), which looked exquisite, radiating a red-orange hue in the restaurant’s cascading natural light. The prawns were bouncy, fresh and amazingly sweet—it needed little to no sauce or condiment to enhance it.

It did, however, come with a homemade lap cheong chilli jam that was reminiscent of puréed tomatoes with just a touch of spiciness.

Chicken dishes rarely stand out as a protein of choice, but here they’ve created the Grilled Local Chicken “Inasal Style” (S$36) which was impressively juicy and tender. It truly is a no-frills dish that is simple in flavour but will leave an impression on your culinary memory.

When I saw that they serve Banoffee Tart (S$14), I knew I had to have it. The crust on their rendition was buttery and crumbly; just how I like it. Also, the miso caramel had a distinct saltiness to it that balanced the sweetness beautifully.

It helps that I’m very partial to bananas, so this dessert ticked all the right boxes for me.

The light that pours in to Salt Grill & Sky Bar’s dining space is excellent for food photography and that coveted dining selfie, if that’s what you’re into.

But all that aside, there is little fault I can find with the food here. The next time you need a momentary experience of the high life, think of Salt Grill & Sky Bar’s Weekend Social brunch.
