Sandwich aficionados rejoice! If you’re searching for more bread-and-meat options in this little red dot, look no further than Samwitch, a nondescript hole-in-the-wall joint nestled deep in Hougang

Situated under Block 806 Hougang Central, this humble establishment has a simple, no-frills menu of two sandwich types. Such a pared-down menu must mean that Samwitch is wholly confident of their sandwiches, and it’s not difficult to see why their offerings excite.

First up, there’s the Beef Sandwich (S$8.90), a glorious amalgamation of home-cured slabs of beef, sliced pickles, and a generous heap of cheese that is blow-torched before serving. The result? A sexy mess of bread and filling that is entirely sloppy and appetising. This is going on my list of must-try sandwiches, as the lovingly cured beef is reason enough on its own to warrant a visit.

Elsewhere, the Chicken Sandwich (S$7.60) presents itself with slow-cooked chicken breast, sliced carrots, and spinach. The folks at Samwitch are firm believers of proper, nutritious eating habits, and it shows with this menu item. The generous pilings of fresh vegetables make this sandwich one to devour without feeling guilty about all those carbs.

A cup of Fresh Milk Tea (S$2.80) is what Samwitch has to offer on the beverage side of things. This drink comes proudly made with three simple ingredients—freshly brewed black tea, fresh milk, and raw sugar. Simple is what it is, and when it comes to good quality tea, that’s really all you need to flourish.

I’ve had my fair share of sandwiches, and Samwitch is shaping out to be a great option for some honest-to-goodness ingredients between two slices of bread. The dedication to fresh ingredients here is definitely commendable, and I’m excited to see what else this shop will come up with in the future.
