If you’re anything like me, scrolling through social media in your free moments, you’ve likely come across videos showcasing cat cafes. Even though I have a chubby cat at home, I’ve never understood the hype around such establishments. However, for some inexplicable reason, Spring Spring Cafe in Taman Paramount, PJ caught my attention, and I thought, why not give it a shot?

Spring Spring Coffee - Store front

What truly drew me to visit this cafe was their menu. As I perused their Instagram page, I noticed that they offered Japanese cuisine, a personal favourite of mine. I was excited at the prospect of savouring Japanese delicacies while enjoying the company of sleepy cats.

Spring Spring Coffee - Parking

As a person who seldom visits Taman Paramount, I quickly discovered the parking challenges it presented. The narrow lorong between the shops was packed with cars parked on both sides. Luckily, I managed to find a parking spot.

Spring Spring Coffee - Outside

Spring Spring Cafe was easily identifiable, thanks to a sign indicating that the cafe was situated on the second floor of the shop lot. Upon entering, I was instantly enveloped in a serene and somewhat calming atmosphere. The cafe filled the air with gentle melodies through its speakers, possibly in tune with my visit at 2pm, a customary naptime for our furry companions.

Spring Spring Coffee - Thor & Micheal

The relatively quiet cafe exuded a welcoming atmosphere, and I particularly appreciated the green and white colour scheme of the interior design. Before embarking on my search for the 7 sleepy cats, I decided to make my way to the counter and place my order.

What I tried at Spring Spring Cafe

Spring Spring Coffee - What I tried

Luck wasn’t on my side that day as the kitchen was closed, which meant no Japanese food for me. On the bright side, the cafe also serves pastries and cakes.

Spring Spring Coffee - Drinks

I opted to try their Iced Latte (RM12). As I was admiring Michael (a white and grey cat who had chosen to nap on a nearby table), my beverage was promptly delivered. The coffee was served in an adorable glass cup along with a glass straw.

Spring Spring Coffee - Iced Latte

Upon thoroughly blending the coffee and milk, I took my first sip. Being someone who primarily indulges in iced coffee, I’d describe it as having the familiar taste of a regular latte. The coffee exhibited a gentle bitterness, leading me to request for some sugar syrup (as I prefer a touch of sweetness in my coffee). All in all, I found the latte to be quite enjoyable.

Spring Spring Coffee - Iced Matcha

Following that, my friend decided to go for the Iced Matcha (RM16). She commented that the earthy matcha notes were rather subtle, allowing the creamy milk flavours to shine through. It resembled the typical cafe-style matcha you can find at many places. She also mentioned that she might choose a different beverage the next time due to the relatively high cost.

Spring Spring Coffee - Chocolate cake

Finally, we decided to share the Classic Chocolate Cake (RM14). It featured a base of chocolate sponge cake crowned with a layer of milk chocolate mousse garnished with whipped chocolate ganache. Surrounding the cake was a firm outer shell made from dark chocolate ganache blended with finely chopped almonds.

Upon taking the initial bite, I noticed that the sponge cake was somewhat dry. However, the chocolate mousse introduced a pleasant velvety texture when combined with the cake. The chocolate flavours weren’t overly dominant, and the solidified dark chocolate ganache contributed a delightful crunchiness to the otherwise soft chocolate cake.

Final thoughts

In summary, Spring Spring Cafe offers a pleasant experience. Their assortment of pastries and desserts aligns with what you’d expect from a typical cafe. Nevertheless, the cafe’s ambience exudes a tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for individuals seeking a serene environment to work or relax.

I certainly plan to return in the future, both to sample their Japanese cuisine and to reunite with the charming cats. The presence of these furry companions added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit, and I was delighted to find that they even had their own merchandise!

Please take note that the cafe exclusively accepts cash or QR payments, and parking can be a bit challenging.
