Starbucks Coffee Kyoto Ninenzaka Yasaka Tea Parlor: Check Out The World’s First Starbucks Outlet With Traditional Tatami Rooms In Japan

Japan is a country where tradition and innovation constantly align, so it’s no surprise that Starbucks is opening an outlet in Kyoto that’s styled like a machiya, a traditional Japanese wooden townhouse. This two storey outlet is located in Kyoto, near the Kiyomizudera Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

With three tatami rooms on the second floor and three courtyards with gardens and stone water basins, this Starbucks is bound to be popular with the crowds in Kyoto. Make plans to go early, however; the store won’t allow customers to form lines in front of the store and will restrict entry if the shop is full.
