Is there a sight more beautiful than a bowl piled high with a copious amount of ikura? That is the stuff dreams are made of.
From the 20-23 February 2019, you can get Teppei Syokudo‘s famed Overflowing Ikura Don at selected outlets. This year Teppei Syokudo is collaborating with renowned Hokkaido restaurant Hachikyo to serve up this glorious bowl.
If you are a true ikura fanatic, you’ll know that with every heaping scoop of those briny orbs you will hear a resounding “Oisa!“. This wonderful practice comes from Northen Hokkaido where fisherman shout this phrase when reeling in their catch.
The Overflowing Ikura Don are available in three sizes, Small (S$27.80), Medium (S$32.80) and Large (S$59.80). That’s not all, this year you’re in for a special treat.
Teppei Syokudo is combining the wonderful Overflowing Ikura Dons with their Signature Kaisen Don. The result is absolutely sublime.
Similarly, they come in three sizes, Small (S$32.80), Medium (S$36.80) and Large (S$72.80). These bowls might be a little steep compared to your average lunch, but for ikura pearls as fresh as these, I’d say treat yo’self.
Not only will you enjoy the lip-smacking goodness of each bowl, but the chef’s theatricality and enthusiasm will enhance your overall dining experience.
So, get your phones and tummies for the ready for an avalanche of the freshest salmon roe to grace your bowl of Japanese rice
