After 5 years of serving a mix of classic and nostalgic flavours of ice cream at Katong Shopping Centre, The Humble Scoop announced they will be closing. Their last day of operations will be 29 Dec.

The news arrived from a sudden and bittersweet post on their Instagram and Facebook, citing the closing as difficult but necessary. No specifics were laid out for their followers to read. The Humble Scoop instead reflected on the past 5 years and thanked their customers.

Most of the replies had fans of The Humble Scoop despairing. Over on Facebook, one commenter asked if there were any other outlets. Unfortunately for them, the Kovan outlet also ceased operations in Oct this year.
It’s all-around disheartening. It’s not just because The Humble Scoop joins the long list of closures in 2023 alone; we will also be losing an ice cream store that sells locally inspired flavours.

Examples are their Orh Bee Good (S$23 a pint) – a pulut hitam flavoured ice cream and ‘Orh Nee‘ You (S$23 a pint) inspired by the classic yam paste. They also offer Inkuehdible (S$19 a pint) which is a combination of salted coconut and gula melaka, and Kopi C Siew Dai (S$19 a pint) ice cream.
For cups, prices range from S$4 to S$9, depending on the flavour and the number of scoops.
If you have yet to try what The Humble Scoop has to offer, and Mountbatten is too far away, there is another way. Just note that it will be for a limited time.

You can find them at Clementi Mall at a pop-up booth with Wunderfolk until 24 Dec. If you’d prefer to hold on to pre-loved items of The Humble Scoop’s instead, they’re holding a garage sale on 30 Dec. Any one of these would be a good chance to say your goodbyes.
