The owners of the newly-opened WOK N ROLL at 378 Alexandra Road, Ephraim Leow, 35, and Sebastian Fu, 36, spent a lot of time away from Singapore a lot when they were in the Navy. The pair met in OCS (Officer Cadet School) and later became good friends.

Though both of them served in the Navy, their paths didn’t truly cross, as they were deployed as sailors during different periods. Sebastian even left the service earlier to pursue his passion for F&B.
Ironically, however, Ephraim and Sebastian had similar experiences — craving the comforts of local Chinese food during their 2-week to 1-month sea voyage aboard the ship. While at sea and sometimes overseas, both of them would constantly hunt for authentic local food that tasted like home, only to be left disappointed.

“It was nearly impossible, so we turned to the internet and started cooking it ourselves,” they shared. Through endless attempts and practices, they gradually got better and eventually perfected their craft.
When Ephraim also left the Navy, Sebastian suggested taking a step further and that’s when WOK N ROLL was born. “We set up this small stall to share our fried rice with others, and strive to continue improving along the way.”
Since the stall is located within Alexandra Hospital, the duo serve fried rice that isn’t oily. Their proteins are also grilled, not fried.
Ephraim gleefully commented, “Even though it’s healthier, our fried rice does not compromise on taste. It still tastes ‘sinful’!”

There are currently 4 flavours of fried rice available: Original, Chilli Crab, Pineapple and Kicap. Choose to have it Plain (S$5.50/S$6), or make it more luxurious with Grill Chicken (S$7.50/S$8.50), Jumbo Crab Meat (S$11.50/S$12.50), Grill Salmon (S$8.50/S$9.50), or Grill Hamburg (S$9.50/S$10.50).
In future, the ex-sailors plan on offering up to 99 varieties. Woah!

If you have a penchant for instant noodles, you can also get their range of Indomie Goreng like Grill Chicken (S$8.90) and Grill Hamburg (S$11.90). Whether you’re a non-spice lover or a sucker for setting your taste buds on fire, there are 4 different spice levels.

If you want to indulge a little, WOK N ROLL also serves sides like Fried Chicken Skin (S$6.90), Jumbo Crab Egg (S$10) and Mantou with Condensed Milk (S$8).
If you’re around Alexandra Hospital or exploring outside Queensway Shopping Centre, swing by WOK n ROLL, try their food, and share your honest feedback — it truly helps new stall owners. Your support makes a big difference!
