Located less than 5-minutes drive from KSL and Mid Valley Southkey Shopping Malls, Taman Melodies is a food-centric part of JB that houses loads of delicious food options within private landed properties and shophouses.
WonderLicious Kopi 味一宝 enters the area’s dining scene with a fresh take on the modern kopitiam — bright, contemporary, and generously spacious.

As soon as you enter, you’ll be greeted by a bright and spacious seating area, with lots of natural sunlight streaming in, thanks to the glass ceiling.

Head further in, and you’ll be even more spoiled for choice with the cosy indoor section and outdoor patio with natural greeneries.

Clearly, the team at WonderLicious Kopi don’t mess around when it comes to food. They had spent a staggering 2 years in a dedicated R&D centre, meticulously fine tuning each recipe that they now proudly serve. The Nanyang-centric menu features a variety of Malaysian favourites alongside aromatic cups of Joe, filling the space with a deliciously inviting fragrance.
What to order at WonderLicious Kopi 味一宝

Perfect for morning breakfast or a mid-day snack, WonderLicious Kopi’s Double Homemade Caramel Kaya Toast (RM4.80) and Double Homemade Pandan Kaya Toast (RM4.80) have got to be among the largest I’ve ever seen. Both varieties of kayas are made from scratch in-house — none of that store-bought nonsense. What’s more, they’re stuffed with copious amounts of butter, making every bite rich and luscious.

Coconut rice fans will swoon over their Nasi Lemak Chicken Masak Merah Style (RM16.80 for drumstick/thigh, RM14.80 for wings). It is their shop’s Top Seller. Truth be told, I’m sick of seeing fried chicken and rendang options everywhere, so having it with ayam masak merah is definitely a breath of fresh air.

Sweet, gently spicy, and bursting with aromatics, the slab of masak merah chicken tasted like it came straight from a makcik‘s home kitchen. The heat wasn’t overpowering, and the chicken remained tender and juicy. The nasi lemak was cooked to perfection with a well-balanced coconutty flavour, and the addition of sambal only took it up a notch.

My eyes lit up as the WonderLicious Curry Laksa (RM18.80) arrived on our table. It was served with a chock-full of ingredients including prawns, cockles, shredded chicken, fish balls, a halved boiled egg, tau geh, and long beans. The duo of yellow mee and fine bee hoon soaked up all the creamy goodness of the curry laksa broth. The chilli heat was just right with each layer of spice in the mix coming through beautifully.

You can also order their Mee Siam Curry Chicken (RM16.80) that has tender chicken and fluffy potatoes drenched in a thick, fragrant curry full of santan goodness.

One of my favourites was the Superior Soup Dry Noodle (RM15.50), featuring a mix of mee sua and thin hor fun that’s tossed in dark soya sauce, vinegar and fragrant pork lard oil. It also comes with a bowl of hot soup filled with meatballs and pork slices.

The noodles were a double delight, tossed in aromatic lard oil and studded with golden, crispy nuggets of pork lard that sent me into pure euphoria. It’s amazing how this simple concoction of noodles, seasoning, and pork lard can create such a memorable combination.

The soup was comforting with hints of white carrot sweetness but I have to give their larger handmade minced meatballs their well-deserved fame. Each piece melted in my mouth instantly, and was umami-rich from the special seasoning within, creating a unique delicious taste.

It’s not just hot food and coffee coming out of the kitchen. WonderLicious Kopi also whips up fresh, aromatic bakes like their Traditional Butter Cake (RM3.80 per slice, RM25.50 for whole) and Walnut Chocolate Banana Cake (RM4.50 per slice, RM28.50 for whole). A jack-of-all-trades, aren’t they?
Each fluffy slice boasts a delicate banana fragrance, studded with a crunch of toasted walnuts and pockets of gooey, melty chocolate chips.

To combat the sweltering JB heat, opt for their Homemade Cendol (RM9.80). Each element of this dessert is prepared in-house including the fine strands of pandan jelly. Crowned with a massive dollop of red beans, each spoonful was refreshing and indulgent. I particularly enjoyed the robustness of the gula melaka which didn’t ‘disappear’ even as the ice shavings began to melt.
