Known for its comfortable and chill ambience, Working Title served as a cosy cafe for adults and students alike to work. Working Title borders on having a retro concept, with aesthetic, photo-worthy spots in each corner.

Tons of natural light are let in by the windows that surround the cafe, making it feel less confined.

Earlier this year, Working Title made the decision to cut a few burgers from its menu. This included popular options such as the Baconator, comprising smashed beef with turkey bacon, and the Tower of Power, which featured a whopping 6 smashed beef patties in 1 burger.

On 30 Mar, Working Title announced that it had reduced its menu from 10 burgers to 3, citing excessive wastage as a reason. A more concentrated menu would also entail higher-quality burgers, as stated by the cafe on Facebook.

Burgers are not the only popular item on the menu. The Truffle Tater Tots (S$12) and Eggs on Toast (S$8) are equally as well-liked.

The cafe stated in a social media post that they would be closing due to the unforgiving nature of the industry. A possible reason could be the lower footfall in the area or the lower consumer interest towards the brand.

This came a month after Working Title simplified its menu, and its closure may point to the increased difficulty of breaking even in the current consumer market.

Working Title is not the only eatery which has announced its closure this year — Providore and Misato have also closed down earlier this year. This begs the question of whether high rental costs play a big factor in the closure.

Do take note that Working Title closes officially on 30 Apr, so hurry down to get your burger fix if you’re in the area!
